Celebrity Race Across the World viewers couldn’t believe their eyes after discovering TV star Dylan Llewellyn’s actual age.
The actor’s most popular projects have seen viewers follow him through his chaotic school years (Derry Girls) and even more chaotic undergraduate degree at university (Big Boys).
So, it’s no surprise fans assumed he was a fresh-faced adult.
That is, until he appeared on the BBC reality series with his mum, Jackie, to travel 5,900km across the breadth of the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Central America.
Joined by their fellow duos – broadcaster Anita Rani and her dad, Bal; presenting couple Molly Rainford and Tyler West; and broadcaster Roman Kemp and his sister, Harleymoon – the journey is not only physically by emotionally challenging.
Now, getting to know the man behind some of their favourite characters, fans are just discovering Dylan is actually 33 years old.
‘Dylan is 33?!?!!’ Donna wrote on X, a sentiment echoed by user Bee Smith.
‘Dylan is 33? I thought he was like 17,’ Daz Scott added.
‘How is Dylan 33,’ Steph Murray asked.
‘Dylan’s 33. Thought he was a young pup,’ Lucinda tobyjug agreed.
‘Dylan is 33? He looks 23!’ Suzy questioned.
Elsewhere, in the season, fans were moved as Dylan opened up about the death of his brother by suicide at the age of 20.
In the powerful scene, Dylan was left fighting back tears as he explained: ‘Me and my mum lost someone close to us. I lost my brother, and my mum lost her son. His name is James.
‘I just wish he could take my place and do this, do all this and travel the world. But he never got to.’
Later, in a separate aside to the camera about his brother James died, he said: ‘My eldest brother James, he took his life when he was 20. I was 16. It just hit us all hard, so hard.
‘Doing this race is like doing it for my brother and my mum. He would have loved to do something like this. I think she’d like to have that kind of journey with a son.’
Celebrity Race Across the World continues on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
