Tom Read Wilson’s Celebs Go Dating co-star Anna Williamson has come to his defence after I’m A Celebrity viewers started to suspect he might be putting on his posh accent.

The E4 star has long been a scene-stealer in the dating agency, but has now taken his Queen’s English RP accent Down Under and entered the jungle.

The 39-year-old receptionist poked fun at himself this week on the ITV reality show, when he adopted a deep cockney voice and joked to his fellow campmates about being straight.

The moment was met with peals of laughter in the camp, but viewers tuning in at home were confused by his effortless deeper register.

His colleague at the dating agency Anna, 44, has now assured viewers that his erudite voice is in fact the real one, even if he’s known for having a knack for impressions.

The TV presenter told The Sun: ‘Everybody is seeing exactly who Tom is. There is no act. It’s really funny, all the stuff around his accent and voice.

‘I’m so used to Tom being Tom, and Tom speaking as he does, which is his usual very posh voice. To hear such conversation around it, is it real, isn’t it, when he does his accent is really funny.

‘I can confirm Tom does speak how Tom speaks, as in his normal voice.

‘It’s lovely to see him doing his thing, but it’s also really lovely to see him being so accurately represented, which is that he is unflappable, he’s very kind, he’s very funny and he’s hugely likeable.’

The moment in the jungle saw Tom take on a cockney accent as he pretended to chat up Kelly Brook.

He then carried his new accent into the Bush Telegraph to rib fans who don’t believe him.

‘Do you know what? That Tom character with all the fancy language, it is so exhausting,’ he said gruffly.

‘Much nicer to hang in here,’ before breaking character as he laughed at his own antics – so it seems the RP is his actual voice after all.

The campmates have been equally intrigued by it, with Aitch putting Tom to the test, which prompted Tom to do a pitch-perfect Aitch impression. He’s just a chameleon!
