Jenna Dewan‘s 12-year-old daughter Everly has hit a major growth milestone that has the actress feeling like time is flying by faster than ever.
The “Step Up” star recently shared adorable photos from a New York City shopping trip that showed just how much her eldest child has grown. In a sweet mirror selfie posted to Instagram Stories on July 10, Dewan posed alongside Everly inside a clothing store, and fans couldn’t help but notice the tween is now practically the same height as her famous mom.
Dewan, who stands at 5’2″, draped her arm over Everly’s shoulders as they both smiled for the camera. The mother-daughter duo looked stylish during their Big Apple adventure, with Dewan sporting a white lace top and blue jeans while Everly kept it cool in a printed White Fox shirt, denim shorts, and sneakers.
The shopping experience clearly made an impression on Dewan, who shared another photo of herself holding a pile of clothes for Everly to try on while sipping an iced coffee. “Somehow became the mom of a teenager overnight,” she wrote over the image.
Everly, whom Dewan shares with ex-husband Channing Tatum, celebrated her 12th birthday just a few months earlier in May. The milestone clearly has Dewan reflecting on how quickly her daughter is growing up and developing her own unique personality and interests.
From Concert Buddy to Fashion Icon
Everly has been making headlines not just for her height but also for her growing independence and sophisticated interests. In April, she joined Dewan and fiancé Steve Kazee at Coachella, where she got to meet BLACKPINK members Lisa and Jennie backstage.
“Coachella with preteens ðð» Oh so worth it to see these little girls dreams come true!” Dewan captioned the Instagram post. The preteen channeled her inner pop princess at the festival, wearing a fluffy pink crop top with matching cargo pants and face jewels on one day, and a white two-piece ensemble with corset lace-up detailing on another.
Everly’s fashion sense has been evolving rapidly, a trend Dewan has noticed and embraced. During a January interview with People at the 2024 InStyle Imagemaker Awards, Dewan shared her daughter’s unique style journey.
“She wore all purple for an entire year, and I just let her,” Dewan said. The actress noted that Everly has since moved on to what she calls “softie schoolgirl” style, describing it as “preppy, but with a dash of Blackpink.”
Dewan proudly noted that Everly is “turning into a fashionista” and is “always marching to the beat of her own drum.” The tween has also developed an interest in makeup, something Dewan attributes to growing up around film sets.
“She’s been in a makeup trailer with me at work since she was…I have pictures of her 6 weeks old with me because I was filming Witches Of East End,” Dewan explained to People in 2023.

Following in Her Parents’ Footsteps
Beyond fashion and music, Everly has inherited her parents’ love of performance, particularly dance. The preteen has developed a passion for Irish dancing and recently competed at the 2025 North American Irish Dance Championships in Maryland.
Dewan proudly documented the competition on social media, sharing photos of Everly on stage and writing: “Never not proud of you Evie!! You wowed and danced amazing! (they don’t allow us to video while she dances!).”
Both Dewan and Tatum, who met while filming the dance movie Step Up, have been supportive of Everly’s dancing pursuits. Tatum was spotted at one of her Irish dance competitions last year, and in September, he shared an Instagram post celebrating her wins.
“There is absolutely no words for how proud I am of this lil girl!!! I’m freaking out maaaaannn!!!!” Tatum captioned the post.
Everly has also become Tatum’s go-to concert companion. The father-daughter duo were recently spotted at a Kelsea Ballerini concert in Los Angeles, and they previously attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour together, where Tatum was filmed dancing enthusiastically while wearing a handmade shirt reading “It’s me, hi, I’m the daddy, it’s me.”
“Seeing it with your daughter is very different because you know, you gotta like go in. I was dancing like I’d never danced before,” Tatum told host Seth Meyers during a “Late Night” appearance.
The proud dad has also showcased Everly’s artistic talents, posting her anime-style artwork on Instagram with the caption: “My daughter is getting sick wit it!! I can’t believe she is this good this young.”
As Dewan continues planning her upcoming wedding to Steve Kazee while raising Everly alongside her younger children, Callum, 5, and Rhiannon, 12 months, it’s clear that watching Everly grow into her own person brings both joy and amazement to both her parents.
