In a celebrity beef we never saw coming, Charli XCX isn’t impressed with Peppa Pig’s recent interview comments.
The children’s TV icon, four, channelled her inner Mariah Carey while playing Pitchfork’s Over/Under game, rating other musicians.
While Peppa shared she is a fan of PinkPantheress, The Beatles and more, when it came to rising star Clairo, 27, she declared, ‘I don’t know her’.
The comment is likely a nod to Mariah, who in an interview said she ‘didn’t know’ Jennifer Lopez.
Her seemingly shady side-eye to the camera caused Charli, 33, to spring to her friend’s defence.
She text Clairo, real name Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, to say ‘let’s f**k her up’, sharing a screenshot of a viral post about the shade.
The Sofia singer then posted her Brat friend’s message, causing fans to rally around her, with many commenting pictures of frying bacon.
‘Peppa Pig should focus on promoting her music career rather than coming for Clairo,’ said one fan account, showing off the pair’s Spotify numbers.
PinkPantheress, who Peppa had praised, also commented: ‘ain’t shit sweet until you put respect on clairo 💯.’
Fans joked that the American singer-songwriter needed to quickly promote something while the internet’s attention was on her, to which she replied that she ‘didn’t have anything yet’.
Her last album, Charm, came out in 2024 and she wrapped up the tour just last year, concluding in Manchester on March 20, 2025.
The record was nominated for best alternative music album at the Grammys, losing out to St. Vincent’s All Born Screaming.
Clairo had been replying to posts, joking about the situation, before writing on X: ‘ok that’s enoughhhhh lolllllllllll’.
Meanwhile, Charli hasn’t said anything about the beef – or should that be bacon – and is instead promoting her new album.
She dropped the track list for Music, Fashion, Film, ahead of the record’s release on July 24. There’s no obvious Peppa shade in the titles, but maybe track five ‘I’m afraid’ could be a nod to the TV titan.
Metro has reached out to Clairo, Charli and Peppa’s reps for comment.
