Cheryl is in talks to make a big TV comeback on The Voice, it is reported.
The Girls Aloud star, 42, is reportedly being lined up for the 14th series, set to kick off in early 2026, after a five-year absence from our screens.
It is reported Cheryl’s friend and The Voice judge, Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, is working with the ITV show to draft her in as a guest mentor for his acts on the upcoming series.
Show bosses are also in talks with the Fight for this Love hitmaker to sign onto the show as a permanent mentor, it is reported.
This will be Cheryl’s first TV appearance since she was dance captain on The Greatest Dancer five years ago, and since Liam Payne, the father of Cheryl’s son Bear, died in October 2024.
A source told The Sun: ‘Will.i.am and Cheryl first worked together 16 years ago and have remained good friends ever since.
‘She was the obvious choice to mentor his team when the Battle Rounds returned four years after being axed.
‘A lot has happened in Cheryl’s personal life since she was last working on a talent show — BBC’s The Greatest Dancer — so she’s taking baby steps to put herself back out there.’
Payne – who was with Cheryl from 2016 to 2018 – died aged 31 after falling off a balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
After the devastating news broke, Cheryl shared a message asking everyone to remember One Direction star Payne as a human being as she navigated this ‘earth shattering event’.
With Emma Willis serving as host to next year’s The Voice, US pop star Kelly Rowland has been confirmed as a new coach, replacing Can’t Fight the Moonlight hitmaker LeAnn Rimes.
LeAnn, 42, left the show to focus more on her US career, having featured on just one series after the axing of Olly Murs and Anne-Marie.
Kelly will sit on the panel beside returning McFly judging duo Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, plus Welsh legend Sir Tom Jones, and Will.i.am, who have been part of The Voice furniture since it hit screens in 2012.
In a statement, Kelly said she was ‘looking forward to working with the excellent and passionate coaches the show is known for’.
‘I can’t wait to hear all the new talent and to go to battle for my team. Let’s go!’ she added.
Destiny’s Child superstar Kelly was a judge on season 8 of The X Factor UK in 2011, where she formed Little Mix.
Last year’s winner, 20-year-old Ava from Bristol, talked to Metro after her time on the show.
‘I’m not out there looking to be the next top thing, I just want to find my people in this world that get where I am coming from and if that means a lot of people, then get me up there,’ she said.
Speaking about her desire to ‘make herself and fans proud’, Ava said she would be thrilled with whatever happens along the way.
‘I will always be grateful, but I am striving for absolute pure and utter connection with the world. Music is such a universal language I think I can use it to put a bit of peace out into the world,’ she added.
As well as a life-changing record deal with Universal Music, The Voice UK awards its winner with £50,000 in cash and a trip to Universal Studios Florida.
