David Walliams has been dropped as an ambassador for The Children’s Trust.

The children’s author and Little Britain star started working with the charity in January 2018, but the organisation has confirmed it parted way with the 58-year-old star ‘earlier this year’.

A spokesperson told the Mail: ‘After a review of our ambassador programme earlier in the year, David Walliams is no longer an ambassador of The Children’s Trust.’

The revelation comes after Walliams’ publisher Harper Collins dropped him following allegations he ‘harassed’ junior female employees.

The author ‘strongly denies’ the allegations, according to a statement from a spokesperson, and plans to ‘take legal advice’.

In the past, Walliams – who was awarded an OBE for his services to charity and the arts in 2007 – has read to children on Christmas Day as part of his work with the charity.

‘I am absolutely thrilled to become an ambassador for The Children’s Trust,’ he said back in 2018. ‘It’s a charity I care greatly about, and every time I visit I am struck by its warm, caring atmosphere and the dedication of its staff.

‘The Children’s Trust is a very special place with incredibly inspiring young people. I feel very proud to be involved.’

Walliams has also been pulled from an announced appearance at Waterstones’ children’s book festival in February 2026.

‘HarperCollins have confirmed that David Walliams will no longer be appearing at our festival in Dundee,’ a spokesperson for the bookseller told Metro.

After the report by The Telegraph alleging inappropriate behaviour towards young women, the BBC – who have scheduled content coming up with Walliams over the festive period – clarified its position.

The broadcaster is still planning to air a controversial Would I Lie To You Christmas special on Boxing Day, which was filmed in June and saw Walliams do two Nazi salutes, which the BBC and the production company, Banijay UK, apologised for.

At the time, they called it ‘completely unacceptable’ and the production company said: ‘It was immediately acknowledged during the recording that this segment would not be broadcast under any circumstances.’

Meanwhile, CBBC still aired Mr Stink and The Boy in the Dress over the weekend, both of which are based on Walliams’ novels.

A statement provided to The Telegraph from HarperCollins about Walliams being dropped from the publishers said: ‘The author is aware of this decision.

‘HarperCollins takes employee wellbeing extremely seriously and has processes in place for reporting and investigating concerns.’

The Telegraph investigation also claimed that one employee who raised concerns about the former Britain’s Got Talent judge was given a five-figure payout and subsequently left the company.

A spokesperson for Walliams told PA: ‘David has never been informed of any allegations raised against him by Harper Collins.

‘He was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions. David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice.’
