Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, and friends say they are aware she ‘might not have a tomorrow’.
The Anchorman star is thought to have been hospitalised in late March but the reason why is unclear.
Applegate, 54, has been living with the condition for five years, and friends are worried about her.
Earlier this year, she said she was mostly bed bound and revealed her favourite thing to do was take her 15-year-old daughter to school.
Speaking to People magazine at the time, she said: ‘I tell myself, “Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.” And that’s what I do.’

After TMZ claimed the star is in hospital, a source close to Christina’s situation told the Daily Mail: ‘With every setback, if we are being realistic, everyone has it in the back of their minds that they might not have a tomorrow with her.’
They said that Christina was in ‘rough shape’ but that ‘people aren’t thinking this is the end’.
The source continued: ‘Nobody is planning to be at a funeral. Granted, her disease will take her sooner than anyone would like it to be, but everyone has trust in her medical team and her will to live.’
In June 2024, Applegate, who played Rachel’s sister in Friends, told Jamie-Lynn Sigler on her podcast MeSsy that she ‘doesn’t enjoy living’.
Months before, she revealed on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that she had 30 lesions on her brain: ‘My biggest one is behind my right eye, so my right eye hurts a lot.’
She has talked frequently and openly about her frustrations and struggles with MS, which caused her to step out of the spotlight.
Applegate was mid-production for the third and final season of hit Netflix show Dead to Me when she was diagnosed with the condition.
Later she revealed that she remembers experiences the ‘first signs of MS’ while filming the pilot.
In a conversation with executive producer Liz Feldman on her podcast, Applegate said: ‘Not to bring everyone down but there it was.’
Feldman remarked: ‘I remember you losing your balance when we were shooting the pilot a couple of times.’
In March, Applegate released a memoir, You With The Sad Eyes, detailing her life as a child star, but also the abuse and turbulence she went through to get where she is today.
A representative for Applegate told the Daily Mail: ‘I have no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are.
‘She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.’
Metro has reached out to Applegate’s representative for comment.
