Actress First Revealed Her Diagnosis in 2021
Christina went public with her MS diagnosis in August 2021, prompting a five-month pause in filming her Netflix series âDead to Meâ as she began treatment.
In December 2024, she revealed that one of her earliest symptoms appeared years before while shooting the showâs pilot. She remembered running across a field during a scene before suddenly collapsing.
âI remember falling that day. Hi, first sign of MS!â Christina said on her âMeSsyâ podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler and creator Liz Feldman.
Feldman remembered seeing Christina lose her balance during those early days, but said it was hard to understand what was happening.
âI remember you losing your balance a couple of times, but it was very hard to figure out,â Feldman said. âI remember one time it was like really late at night, weâd been shooting probably 14 or 15 hours, it seemed completely reasonable that anybody would be collapsing.â
As time went on, Feldman sensed something deeper was wrong.
âThereâs no handbook for this. I could just sense that A, she was scared, and B, that something was wrong, something in her body was not working the way that she wanted it to,â Feldman said. âI told her so many times that itâs just a TV show; weâre making a TV show, and itâs so silly, you know, at the end of the day!â
She added that she knew Christina well enough to recognize that âsomething major had to be going on because sheâs an extreme professional.â
