Clarkson’s Farm has beaten hit reality game show The Traitors to a major entertainment award.

This year’s Tric Awards, which celebrates names from across the entertainment industry, honoured the likes of veteran newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald, The Chase host Bradley Walsh and radio presenter Jordan North.

Held at London’s Grosvenor House, former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker – who lost the news presenter award to GB News reporter Charlie Peters – hosted the event.

But the biggest surprise on the evening came when Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm won best reality show.

Triumphing over not only The Traitors but also ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Jeremy’s series reigned supreme.

This comes after season four of the show, which follows the former Top Gear presenter on his farm, came out last month, receiving some mixed reviews from critics and fans alike.

Clarkson’s Farm has been praised for raising awareness of the difficulties facing the farming industry and bringing British farming to an international audience.

Last year, Jeremy was rushed to hospital last year for urgent heart surgery after it was discovered by doctors that he had a completely blocked artery.

Following his health scare, the 65-year-old detailed why he was not feeling himself ahead of the new season.

He told The Sun: ‘You can see me becoming more and more ill as the days go on, because I just lose my sense of humour, lose my ability to stay calm. I get in a proper old panic.

‘I didn’t know at the time. I knew I wasn’t being me. I was trying to get the pub open for the August Bank Holiday weekend and, at the same time, doing the harvest on the farm.’

Elsewhere at the Tric Awards, GB News won in the news category with its breakfast show beating BBC News At Six, ITV’s Good Morning Britain and ITV Evening News.

The drama prize was won by BBC historical series Call The Midwife, which began filming its 15th series last month.

It was recently announced that the series, about midwives working in the East End of London, will be made into a film and prequel TV series set during the Second World War.

Reality property show A Place In The Sun pipped ITV’s This Morning to the daytime category prize, while Jordan North picked up an award for radio presenting.

TV stars Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks won an award for their podcast, Staying Relevant, while Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston took home a prize for their Heart Breakfast radio show.

The soap actor gong was given to Steve McFadden, who plays hard man Phil Mitchell in EastEnders, which picked up the soap of the year prize.

Cooking show The Great British Bake Off won for food, The 1% Club for best game show and Six Nations Rugby for live sport.

The awards welcomed close to 1,000 guests and featured a live performance by Time To Grow singer Lemar, with the winners who were announced at the ceremony decided by votes from the British public.
