Harry Hill’s TV Burp is having a resurgence on social media as fans celebrate its most hilarious moments.
In the ITV series which began in 2001 and ran for 10 years, the comedian, now 60, would reflect on the previous week’s TV and poke fun at it. Amusing observations, impersonations of TV stars, parody scenes, and silly segments made up the highly entertaining format.
Harry’s eye for the ridiculous kept viewers locked in for 11 seasons, and led to three Bafta awards, before he made the decision to walk away.
Despite it ending over a decade ago, the enduring nature of the jokes means that people are still finding them just as funny today.
For no reason at all there’s been a joyous trend of previous viewers sharing their favourite clips on social media, reminding us all why we loved Harry Hill’s TV Burp so much. The TV show is trending with timelines being flooded with archival videos including singer Tracey repeatedly telling Cheryl that she was ‘ready’ during X Factor’s Judges’ houses.
At the time, he joked ‘I wasn’t sure whether Tracey was entirely ready’. Some people have credited the origins of the famous meme to Harry featuring it on the show.

‘Always baffled by the longevity of a joke started from Harry Hill’s TV Burp but I will be quoting this on my deathbed if prompted,’ said HarryPhillips15 on X. Leimthart added: ‘Not enough people know the lore !!!! this is a harry hill’s tv burp joke from when it happened!!’ There are 39k likes between the two posts.
Amongst the moments being remembered are when Harry imagined what would happen if Mr Blobby turned up in EastEnders to torment Dot Cotton, and ‘the most casual turning on of a car indicator of the week’. Harry decided to show a man just lightly turning on the car function during an episode of Dog Rescue. It made no sense then, and makes no sense now, but it can still produce a giggle.

Sarah Firth took a trip down memory lane, celebrating some more of its standout features: ‘I miss this so much. So many hilarious moments which stand out for me…Jasbir on the Apprentice, Eoghan Quigg from X Factor, Jamie Oliver having celery bashed in, ear cataracts, knitted toy saga.’

It seems people are craving the silliness again. ‘Bring it back,’ Bardic demanded.With the clear appetite for Harry Hill’s TV Burp, TV critic Scott Bryan asked: ‘Why has everything else been rebooted bar TV Burp?’
‘Would be great if Harry would bring it back as a once a month thing, or even just half an hour at Christmas,’ Lukecfc5 suggested. Many others suggested a similar notion, and indicated they’d be happy with an annual episode.
Lucy made reference to when Harry would pick out a wildly specific TV moment and add ‘of the week’ on the end (see car indicator example). ‘Longest awaited rebooting of the weeeeeeeeeeek,’ she wrote.

Although it’s been described as ‘one of the best programmes’ ever, some people have doubts over whether it can come back due to the amount of work that went into it. Harry and his team of writers would have to go through hours of TV to find the best parts to joke about, and some wonder if he’d be up for doing that again.
The good news is the love for Harry Hill’s TV Burp doesn’t go unnoticed by its host. He has previously said he gets asked at least one per day to bring it back. However, the bad news is that ITV hasn’t asked Harry to reboot it.
‘That would have to be the first step and ITV hasn’t done that,’ he told the Daily Star.
Harry added that he was ‘fed up’ of the series before it came to an end, so he may need some convincing too if they did come knocking.
‘When I said I wanted to finish the show in 2012, they didn’t try to persuade me to keep doing it.’
He continued: ‘I had a good relationship with them and they knew I was fed up with doing it.’
