A concert-goer has died after suffering a fatal fall from the upper level of Madison Square Garden.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, appeared to have fallen over the balcony at the arena during a Goose performance on Sunday.

Officers responded to the scene shortly before 10pm after receiving a 911 call reporting an injured male at the venue, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said.

It is believed that the man was at the concert with his wife, according to Fox News Digital, when he fell from the 300 level section of Madison Square Garden, which includes the arena’s balcony and upper-tier seating.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The incident happened during the second night of Goose’s two sold-out concert events held at Madison Square Garden.

Extending their condolences to the victim’s family, the band said: ‘We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show.

‘We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.’

MSG Entertainment told the publication in a statement: ‘While we await the police report on the tragedy at last night’s Goose concert, we are deeply saddened by the loss of a fan’s life at Madison Square Garden.

‘Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the concertgoer.’

Goose’s next concert is scheduled for Sunday night at SummerStage in Central Park.

The event is also sold out, according to the band’s tour listings.
