Shenmue fans hoping for a new sequel now have Count Binface in their corner, who also wants Sega’s Trocadero arcade to make a comeback.
It remains to be seen whether Count Binface will succeed at being elected the MP of Clacton, as he opposes Nigel Farage, but he’s certainly going to net himself a few more supporters amongst diehard Sega fans.
That’s because in a video shared to social media, the self-annoited ‘independent space warrior’ has called for Sega to not only make Shenmue 4 but also re-open the SegaWorld arcade at the London Trocadero.
‘The Shenmue fans are amazing, Sega! You need to get your bottoms in gear, sort yourselves out, and get the update done,’ says Count Binface, suggesting that perhaps Sega ‘needs to be nationalised along with Adele.’
His video ends with a #LetsGetShemnue4 hashtag, complete with ‘Count Binface has spoken,’ and has been shared on X and YouTube by Shenmue fansite Shenmue Dojo.
It’s not been posted to Count Binface’s own social media channels though and since the hashtag has existed for at least a few years, it’s likely that he was asked to promote the Shenmue 4 campaign via his Cameo page.
Regardless, an endorsement from him is not going to sway executives at Sega into greenlighting another Shenmue sequel, although we are on board with Count Binface’s desire to revitalise the Trocadero.
‘I’d quite like to reboot SegaWorld in London’s Trocadero and have Sonic The Hedgehog back in his prime. Oh, that would be wonderful,’ he says.
This is something Count Binface seems to sincerely care about since part of his manifesto when running for London mayor in 2021 was for the London Trocadero to ‘be turned back into a truly top-notch video arcade.’
For years, the Trocadero was best known for the SegaWorld arcade, which opened in 1996 and became a key part of London’s arcade scene. Declining worldwide interest in arcades eventually led to SegaWorld shutting down in 2011.
Count Binface obviously wouldn’t have the power to reinstate it even if he does become Clacton’s new MP, but who knows, maybe his mere appreciation for it will score him some extra votes from people still on the fence.
As for Shenmue 4, series creator Yu Suzuki has pledged to keep the series going, but considering there was a gap of nearly two decades between Shenmue 2 and Shenmue 3, fans are naturally concerned about how long they’ll need to wait for a new sequel.

Last year, some believed a trailer for Shenmue 4 had leaked online, but it quickly proved to be an AI generated fake. For now, fans must make to do with an enhanced re-release of Shenmue 3, which is coming to modern consoles later this year.
