Courtney Love is paying tribute to another notable woman in rock.

Jennifer Finch of the band L7 died July 18 at age 59, just a few days after her loved ones revealed she’d been diagnosed with brain cancer.

Love was one of many music industry figures who shared a <a href=”https://www.gofundme.com/f/jennifer-finch-vs-brain-cancer-its-time-to-make-noise” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>GoFundMe that had been created to help Finch with the cost of her care.

“@jenniferfinch a founder of @l7theband one of the most important bands in history [and] someone we’re all honored to call a friend is gravely ill . Help if you can,” the Hole frontwoman wrote in her <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DavWKMfB58r/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram post.

In the GoFundMe appeal, Finch’s family shared that after undergoing radiation treatment for her “aggressive” cancer, she experienced complications that required multiple surgeries and left her with serious physical limitations. They were seeking help in providing round the clock care “to make the time she has with her friends, family, and fans as comfortable, meaningful, and full of love as possible.”

Sadly, Finch died soon after.

“We are devastated to announce the death of our partner, sister, daughter, and friend Jennifer Precious Finch,” read a post shared on the singer and bassist’s <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/Da9Pt2FBQ42/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram. “Jennifer’s impact on the world of music was seismic; her impact on our lives, even more so. We appreciate everyone’s interest and concern, thank you for all the kind messages. We appreciate some space to heal privately during this difficult time.”

As a member of L7, Finch performed on tracks such as 1992’s “Pretend We’re Dead,” which spent multiple weeks on Billboard’s US Alternative Songs chart. In the early 1980s, she was a member of the band Sugar Babydoll with Love and Kat Bjelland from Babes in Toyland. She was also a photographer who documented the LA punk scene.
