Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have chosen one of the world’s leading hotels for their lavish wedding celebrations this weekend.
The pro footballer, 41, and his media personality partner, 32, have been together since 2016, having met at the Gucci store in Madrid, where she worked as a sales manager.
Together, they have two children (baby boy Angel also sadly died at birth), and Ronaldo has three others from past relationships.
He and Rodriguez got engaged a year ago, with details of their nuptials now revealed in full – and it looks set to be a day to remember.
Where is Ronaldo getting married?
Born and raised in Funchal, Madeira, Ronaldo is going back to his roots by hosting his wedding at the Savoy Palace, which has been named the number one resort in Spain and Portugal.
Offering the ultimate five-star experience, the resort boasts its own private beach area, gardens, a fitness centre, and a sun terrace with 360-degree views of the island and ocean.
Guests will be greeted by doormen on arrival before likely packing out the Grand Ballroom, which can hold 1,000 partygoers.
From a family games room and a solarium to a variety of dining options serving Mediterranean and international cuisines, the amenities mean Ronaldo and Rodriguez’s guests will probably never want to leave.
The 352-room Savoy Palace also features six swimming pools (both indoor and outdoor), a spa, and options for scuba diving and yoga classes in the surrounding area.
Complete with a children’s playroom to entertain the little ones, it allows for the couple’s special occasion to be a family affair while the adults enjoy the £226 massages, £325 facials, £80 manicures, and 24-hour gym.
It’s said the soon-to-be spouses will head to the hotel with 24/7 service and personal butlers for a party after saying ‘I do’ at Funchal Cathedral.
Just a five-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the Savoy Palace, the cathedral seats approximately 800 people, making it ideal for a celebrity wedding, undoubtedly with a long guest list.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been seen staying at the Savoy Palace before and are thought to be spending their wedding night in The Reserve.
Known as the ‘hotel within a hotel’, it will provide the most renowned footie star with a more ‘discreet’ experience, describing itself as ‘a remarkable tribute to Madeira Island’.
The Reserve also proudly promotes its ‘breathtaking panoramic views’, ‘rooms and suites of unparalleled excellence’, and ‘exclusively crafted experiences’, which is reflected in its starting price of £1,100 per night.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez will be making the most of his $1.2billion net worth there, despite his multi-million-pound, seven-storey mansion being nearby and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
The Portuguese athlete has strong ties to Madeira, where his mother and brother are thought to still be living full-time.
Unsurprisingly, locals are always keen to shout about his connection to the region, with the local airport known as Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport since 2016 and the man himself becoming a tourist attraction in the form of a bronze statue.
He even has the Pestana CR7 Funchal Hotel named in his honour, as well as the Museu CR7 museum.
What has Ronaldo said about getting married?
Speaking previously about getting hitched, Ronaldo had high hopes of making it down the aisle as a World Cup winner.
Alas, Portugal was eliminated by Spain in the Round of 16, marking Ronaldo’s final time playing in the tournament.
He had told Piers Morgan: ‘I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy.
‘I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children – but because she’s the person I love most.’
He also recalled how he popped the question (with a £3million ring) at an unusual time, but it felt ‘right’.
‘It was like, 1am. My daughters were in bed sleeping. One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say, “Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to Mum, and you’re going to ask her to get married.”
‘I said, “Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.”
‘It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day, but I hadn’t planned to do it then.’
Still, Rodriguez had to be certain that the proposal was legit.
‘She didn’t care about the ring,’ he recalled last year. ‘She asked me if I was speaking the truth. She said, “Are you honest?”‘
‘And I said, “Yes, I’m honest. I want you. I want to marry you.” She didn’t believe me at first.’
Ronaldo and Rodriguez are now primarily based in Saudi Arabia, where he plays for Al-Nassr.
