Dave Coulier Thanks Fans – No One Should ‘Go Through This Kind of Battle’

Dave Coulier

“Full House” star Dave Coulier was diagnosed with another type of cancer after beating Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He’s facing this battle head-on and using his unfortunate diagnosis as a way to enact positive change in the world.

Coulier Faces Another Health Battle

Less than a year after he beat his diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Coulier shared exclusively on the TODAY show that he was diagnosed with HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer in October.

“A year has flown by like that. It’s been a roller coaster,” Coulier told co-anchor Craig Melvin during his segment on December 2.

“To go through chemotherapy and feel that relief of whoah, it’s gone, and then to get a test that says, well now you’ve got another kind of cancer … it is a shock to the system,” he admitted.

The actor was diagnosed with his first cancer after noticing an enlarged lymph node in his groin, which a biopsy revealed to be non-Hodgkin lymphoma. However, he had no symptoms before his second cancer diagnosis. A chance discovery during a follow-up scan is what caught the new cancer.

He continued, “it was a really tough year, chemotherapy was grueling.”

“A couple of months ago, I had a PET scan, and something flared on the scan,” Coulier recalled. “The doctor said, ‘We don’t know what it is, but there’s something at the base of your tongue.’”

Shortly after, the biopsy results came back positive, and Coulier was diagnosed with early stage, P16-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, a type of tongue cancer.

Coulier is currently undergoing radiation therapy — 35 treatments in total, Monday through Friday, which will last through the end of the year.

After radiation, doctors expect the cancer to be cured. His last treatment is on December 31. “I get to start the new year saying, I finished radiation yesterday! It’s kind of serendipitous.”

“It’s emotional,” he said of being diagnosed with two cancers in one year. “It’s psychologically draining. It’s also a big drain to my wife, Melissa, which is the biggest drain on me, seeing how this affects her.”

However, Coulier is remaining “cautiously optimistic. I’m going to get on the other side of this.”

Coulier Shows Appreciation for His Fans

In an Instagram reel from December 3, Coulier shares his story and how he plans to move forward for his fans.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love yesterday,” the actor wrote in the caption of his post, referring to the reaction around the world following his announcement on the TODAY show.

“Hi, it’s me, Dave Coulier,” he began the reel. “In 2024, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, cancer, and my battle began.”

“I went through seven months of chemotherapy, and at the end of that, I pronounced cancer-free. And then everything was great. Then, I went in for another check-up this year, in 2025, and I got diagnosed with P 16 carcinomas right here at the base of my tongue where it attaches here in my throat,” Coulier gestured to the area in question.

He continued, “well, I was shocked. Now, I’m going through radiation. And it’s a battle. And none of us need to go through this kind of battle. So, cancer picked a fight with me, and now, I’m fighting back. Not just for me, but for you, too.”

This is why he started “Awaremarket,” his new business that’s devoted to the sale of toxin-free products.

“Because our lives are filled with toxic things,” he explained, giving our every day “garbage bags” and “toilet paper” as examples along with the “clothes” we’re wearing and the “food” we’re eating.

He created this website for his fans. “Cancer picked a fight with me,” Coulier reiterated, before he left his followers with a message of hope. “And now, we’re all going to win this battle.”
