While he has talked about the beauty of some of these songs, there are others he appreciates less. Grohl said that a song he wrote about Blum in the early days of their relationship will never be a part of a setlist during a Foo Fighters concert. He shared why it makes him cringe.</p>

<p id=”par-3_28″>“There’s something about heartbreak that makes for great music, but the same could be said for Jägermeister,” he told the <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.avclub.com/dave-grohl-1798209638″ rel=”noreferrer noopener”>A.V. Club</a>. “Hangovers make for great music, too.”</p>

<p id=”par-4_58″>In his eyes, romantic love wasn’t as good for inspiration. While his feelings for Blum in the period before their wedding led him to write a song, it wasn’t one he particularly liked. When asked if any of his songs made him “cringe,” Grohl pointed to the entire album the band put out while <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/dave-grohls-wife-never-thought-hear-stopped-calling-dating.html/”>he was dating Blum</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-5_42″>“Well, the record <em>One By One</em>, there’s some questionable s*** on that,” he said. “A song like ‘Burn Away,’ I was in love with my future wife and had some romantic f***ing prom ballad. Ugh! We’d never play that f***ing s*** live.”</p>

<p id=”par-6_31″>As time passed, Grohl grew to speak more fondly about the songs he wrote about his wife. One of these was “Statues” from the 2007 album <em>Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace</em>. </p>
<p id=”par-7_44″>“That song is about my wife and me,” he told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.gq.com/story/super-dave-a-qa-with-dave-grohl” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>GQ</a> in 2008. “To me there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing the headstones of a husband and wife side by side in a graveyard. It doesn’t have to do with the Nirvana Statue. Whatever!”</p>

<p id=”par-12_68″>“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he wrote in a statement. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”</p>
<p id=”par-13_18″>Grohl and Blum share three children together. At this time, neither has offered further commentary on the matter.</p>
