David and Victoria Beckham have marked their son Brooklyn’s birthday despite their ongoing estrangement.
Earlier this year, the eldest son of the retired footballer, 50, and the former Spice Girl, also 50, launched a brutal takedown of them on social media, which came after over a year of reports there was intense tension in the family.
In his explosive 800-word statement, Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to ‘control’ him and ‘ruin’ his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz, 31.
He went on to write that he ‘did not want to reconcile’ with his family, with it emerging he’d also blocked his parents and brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, on social media.
Although it appears the family are not spending time together for Brooklyn’s birthday, David has still made attempts to extend an olive branch to his son.
Posting two photos on Instagram this morning, David made sure to say he ‘loved’ his son.
The first snap showed him and Victoria holding a then toddler Brooklyn in a pool, which he captioned: ‘27 Today. Happy birthday Bust <3. We love you x.’ Buster is Brooklyn’s nickname, with David also having a tattoo of the moniker on his neck alongside a love heart.
The second photo also showed him with a young Brooklyn as he posed with his son in a black-and-white snap.
Although David tagged his wife in the photos, he didn’t tag his son’s account, likely due to the fact that Brooklyn has blocked most of his immediate family.
Soon after David posted, Victoria also shared the same photo from the pool, writing: ‘Happy Birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much.’
She then shared a black and white photo holding him as a baby, captioning that story: ‘Happy 27th Birthday Brooklyn. I love you so much.’ She also added a series of love hearts to the post.
Yesterday a source told Metro that Brooklyn was set to be marking his special day Stateside, where he now lives with his wife Nicola, and without his family by his side.
‘David and Victoria are disappointed that they won’t even be in contact with Brooklyn for his birthday this year,’ the source said.
‘It feels so different to how they usually celebrate together as a family. They love doing big family dinners with all of the kids and showering them with love, not to mention the childhood photos and tributes they share on Instagram.
They added: ‘There’s even a reluctance to reach out this year, which is devastating. Brooklyn made his feelings clear in his statement and it feels like it’s best to leave any thoughts of a reunion up to him for now.’
Earlier this year it was reported that Brooklyn had made moves to try and prevent his parents from contacting him via social media and had sent them a legal letter instructing them to get in touch through lawyers going forward.
According to reports, Brooklyn’s requests to ‘stop’ his parents from contacting him had gone unanswered.
They added that Brooklyn would prefer any attempts at a reconciliation to be handled ‘privately’ and away from social media.
At the end of 2025, Brooklyn suddenly blocked his family on Instagram just days after the Spice Girls star attempted to reach out to her son by liking one of his social media posts.
‘There was no intention behind it other than to show she’s thinking of him before Christmas. She had no idea it would lead to this fallout,’ a source had told Metro at the time.
‘She can’t understand why Brooklyn would make the decision to block her, David, and his brothers. Cruz and Romeo are just as hurt by it and it feels like Brooklyn has truly cut them out of his life.’
Over the New Year, David shared an Instagram story with a picture of him and Brooklyn with the caption ‘I love you all so much’. Victoria then reshared the post with a heart caption.
But after rejecting this gesture, it was reported by The Sun that Brooklyn issued his parents a legal notice, stating that they cannot directly contact him.
The last time Brooklyn and Nicola were pictured with his family as a whole was Christmas 2024.
No immediate Beckham family members have commented publicly on whether they are still in touch with the couple.
However last month the model and actress’ father – billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz – weighed in on the ongoing drama.
‘My daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story. That’s not for coverage here today, but I’ll tell you my daughter’s great, my son-in-law, Brooklyn, is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together,’ he said.
In his bombshell statement shared on Instagram on January 19, Brooklyn began by writing: ‘I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
‘I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.’
Brooklyn went on to claim his family ‘values public promotion and endorsements above all else’. ‘Brand Beckham comes first. Family “love” is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.’
He then said that since ‘stepping away’ from his family, he now ‘woke up every morning grateful for the life I chose and have found peace and relief’. ‘My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family,’ he added.
