Stranger Things actor and Lily Allen’s ex-husband, David Harbour, has admitted he ‘fell in love’ with an actress from the Netflix show.
The actor’s romantic life has been a hot topic since Allen released her most recent album, West End Girl, detailing Harbour’s alleged cheating and gaslighting during their relationship.
Harbour, 50, is also back in the limelight ahead of the highly anticipated return of Stranger Things as season 5 premieres on November 27.
In the show, he plays Chief of Police Jim Hopper, who ends up caring for Millie Bobby Brown’s character, Eleven. The two reportedly clashed on set.
But in an interview with Esquire Spain, Harbour spoke about his admiration for co-star Winona Ryder’s acting abilities.
He praised: ‘I think that people who have done that at a level where I believe them and fall in love with them in a fake reality, I just have such awe
The actor went on: ‘I will say that I adore what she does, admire what she does. She’s such a deeply emotional human being that I could never be.’
‘She’s just an extraordinary creature. I’ve been so lucky to work with her and be close to her,’ he told the men’s magazine.
Ryder, 54, is reportedly currently offering support to Harbour.
A source told The Sun: ‘She has his back, and she’ll be at his side next month when they start promoting the final episodes of their show. She is not a judgemental person.
‘Just like she came to Johnny Depp’s defence during his scandal, she’ll be there for David because it’s clear to her that he’s getting a raw deal in all of this.’
During Depp’s trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, Ryder, who dated the Pirates of the Caribbean star in the early nineties, submitted a declaration in the defamation case. She said the allegations of domestic abuse made against him, which he denied, were ‘impossible to believe’.
And the actress, who plays Joyce Byers in the hit Netflix horror, is now supposedly standing by her on-screen partner Harbour.
‘Winona is the last person in the world who would want to see David get cancelled’, the source added.
Harbour turned his comments off on Instagram after the release of West End Girl on October 24, and has been the centre of countless headlines for several days.
Meanwhile, Allen has been posting content on social media all weekend, after dressing as Harbour’s alleged lover, Madeline, for Halloween.
The singer’s album suggests Harbour could be a ‘sex addict’ in songs like Pussy Palace, and accuses her ex-husband of cheating in songs including Madeline and Tennis.
Stranger Things season five, volume one, returns to Netflix in the UK on November 27.
