Demi Lovato’s sister has revealed that her newborn daughter tragically died last month after she underwent an emergency c-section.

Actress Madison De La Garza announced the death of her baby, Xiomara, on Instagram on Saturday night.

Her older sister Demi also paid heartbreaking tribute to her niece, sharing Madison’s post with the awful news on social media and saying that she would ‘forever be your auntie’.

Madison, 22, had been expecting her first child with her partner Ryan Mitchell but revealed that they had suffered a heartbreaking loss towards the end of September.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘On the evening of September 27th, after an emergency c-section, Ryan and I held our little girl for the first and last time. Thank you, Xiomara, for making us parents to the most perfect angel in heaven.

‘Mommy and Daddy love you sweet girl.’

The Desperate Housewives star did not elaborate further on the sad circumstances, but former Disney Channel actress Demi, 32, took to social media to support her sibling in these truly terrible circumstances.

Sharing her sister’s post to her Instagram story, the chart-topper wrote: ‘RIP to my beautiful, perfect niece Xiomara. I’m so grateful I got to hold you. I’ll forever be your auntie.’

She then added: ‘I love you so much @maddelagarza.’

Underneath her sister’s post she had also commented: ‘I love you so much Xiomara. An angel in every sense of the word. I’ll be your auntie forever.’

Just weeks ago, Demi spoke of her excitement to become an aunt in the first place as she noted that family is one of the biggest values to her in life.

She told E! News: ‘I’m really excited to have new life come into our family. Family is very valued to me. I value family and friends over success any day.’

Other members of Madison’s family also shared their grief and love for her, Ryan and Xiomara on her post.

‘They say when you meet your grandchild for the first time, you feel a love that you can’t explain in words. I felt that love and I will feel it til the day I die,’ penned Dianna De La Garza, 62.

‘I love you my sweet granddaughter Xiomara. Thank you for making me a REAL “Grandma D”,’ the mum of Madison and Demi added.

Madison’s other sibling Dallas Lovato, 36, left a tribute as well in the form of a poem, sharing: ‘Baby girl Xiomara, I miss you everyday. I’ll take good care of your mom, so you can fly away.

‘Watch over us and guide us and give us little signs. One day we’ll come and see you, it just might take some time.

‘Not a single day will pass without you in our hearts. I wish we got more time together before you had to depart.

‘So have fun in your new world, the one we cannot see. Because every breath I take, I’ll be taking one for z.’

Demi’s fiancé Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes also commented: ‘I love you so much 🖤 rest easy baby angel Xiomara.’
