Dana Delany has reflected on her stint in Desperate Housewives and the one plot she wants to change nearly 20 years on.

The 69-year-old, who is currently delighting fans as Margaret in Tulsa King, starred as Katherine Mayfair across three seasons of the iconic drama, alongside Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman.

Katherine didn’t have the easiest time on Wisteria Lane, going through a divorce, being dumped by Mike Delfino (James Denton) and suffering a complete breakdown in just a few years – before beginning a relationship with stripper Robin (Julie Benz) and leaving Fairview with her.

However, in the series finale, she made a brief return to announce that their romance was over, informing her neighbors: ’I just decided I wasn’t into women anymore’.

Speaking to Metro at the New York premiere of season three of Tulsa King on Tuesday, Dana looked back on how the plot ended and shared what she would have done differently.

When it was suggested that her character deserved some justice, she told us: ‘I agree! I think she should’ve stayed gay and come back.

‘She and Bree [Marcia] should have gotten together. I think that’s what should’ve happened.

‘I told Marc Cherry [creator] that, he didn’t listen to me. Wouldn’t that be so great?’

Honestly, how do we go back in time and finish their story the right way?

Desperate Housewives is back in the headlines after Teri, who played Susan Delfino across all eight seasons, unveiled her new rewatch podcast, Desperately Devoted.

She will be joined for the new launch by on-screen daughter Andrea Bowen, as well as her real-life daughter, Emerson Tenney, as they look back on the most scandalous moments to rock Wisteria Lane.

And Dana is ready to rehash the good times with them, sharing that she would ‘absolutely’ be a guest.

However, she is currently booked and busy, as the new episodes of Tulsa King will be hitting our screens on Sunday – followed by a fourth season.

Opening up about starring as Sylvester Stallone’s love interest, she touched on how her portrayal of Fennario Ranch owner Margaret had developed since her first moments on screen.

‘Well it’s funny because she’s evolved,’ she continued. ‘At the beginning, this man shows up on her ranch and she’s like, “Who is this strange person?” He was so odd for her, she’d never met anybody like him – eventually she realized she likes that she’s never met anybody like him.

‘I think it’s the chemistry that I have with Sly, because he makes me laugh. Whereas, normally I would’ve played it very straight and serious, I can’t help myself – he just says something so ridiculous, or makes a face, and it just makes me giddy. And that’s how the character has evolved.’

‘It just is and we don’t want to question it too much,’ she added of how her bond with the Rocky legend works. ‘Sly is so smart as a creator, he just picked up on it and started writing towards that. I don’t think everybody else understood it, only Sly understood it.

‘I think a lot of people felt, “Why is she laughing all the time?” Which I understand, but he just enjoyed it and wanted to lean into that.’
