The entertainment industry has reacted with an outpouring of love and sadness upon the news of beloved actress Diane Keatonâs passing. She died on Saturday, October 11. She was 79.Â
Keaton had a phenomenal career and an interesting life. She is survived by her two children, daughter Dexter, and son Duke. She adopted her children in 1996 and 2001, respectively. The âAnnie Hallâ actress also had three high-profile relationships with famous men; however, she was never married. This is a look back at her time with Warren Beatty, Woody Allen, and Al Pacino.Â
Diane Keatonâs Famous RomancesÂ
Keaton and Allen were not only romantically linked, but they also collaborated on several projects in the â70s. This includes the film âAnnie Hall,â for which she won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1977.Â
Ultimately, their relationship did not last, and she later went on to date Al Pacino.
Pacino and Keaton’s relationship was on-again and off-again. “I was mad for him. Charming, hilarious, a nonstop talker,” she said of Pacino, People reports. “There was an aspect of him that was like a lost orphan, like this kind of crazy idiot savant. And oh, gorgeous!”
She had wanted to marry Pacino, and People reports that they broke up in 1990 because he would not agree to marriage.Â
Keaton was also romantically linked to actor Warren Beatty, whom she dated for around five years.Â
Why Diane Keaton Never Got Married
Keaton was never married, and it was not a decision she regretted. âToday I was thinking about this,â she said of marriage in an interview with People in 2019. âIâm 73 and I think Iâm the only one in my generation and maybe before who has been a single woman all her life.â
She acknowledged that not getting married was the right decision for her life and not something she felt she needed to do. “[Iâm not sad] because I think that I needed more of a maternal aspect. I donât think it would have been a good idea for me to have married, and Iâm really glad I didnât, and Iâm sure theyâre happy about it, too.â
âThe First Wives Clubâ star also reflected on the thought of being a wife when she was a teen. “I remember one day in high school, this guy came up to me and said, ‘One day you’re going to make a good wife.â And I thought, ‘I don’t want to be a wife. No,’â she said, People reports.
