DJ Fat Tony has put the Beckham family feud back on the agenda, after speaking about the rift between Brooklyn and his parents in a new interview.
The DJ, 60, played at Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz’s wedding and earlier this year set the record straight on the accusation that Victoria Beckham danced ‘inappropriately’ on her son at the nuptials bash.
The Beckham family friend has now urged the public not to judge those involved in the fallout, after Brooklyn’s explosive Instagram statement earlier this year insisted he does not want to mend fences with his parents.
Speaking about the three days he disc jockeyed the Peltz-Beckham wedding, he said: ‘Before judging, people should remember that two parents have lost their first-born son and a son has lost his parents.’
He added to The Times: ‘All families have dramas, but they just happen to be the Beckhams.’
The DJ – real name Anthony Marnoch – was dragged into the drama in January, after his husband Stavros Agapiou supported Brooklyn by posting then deleting the comment, ‘I was there and she did. He is telling the truth’.
The DJ then went on to appear on This Morning to clear up the claims. He recalled to The Times how he received ‘dozens’ of interview requests from media around the world, including a ‘personal call’ from Piers Morgan, which he turned down.
Last month the DJ revealed he had been asked onto the ITV daytime show via his group chat with Brooklyn and wife Nicola, explaining he did not go on the show to ‘slag off’ Sir David and Lady Victoria.
He told The Telegraph: ‘I always like to see a happy ending, and I think that they will as a family all get back together. It’s really sad…
‘It was getting to the point where everyone forgot the reality was that some kid’s hurting and a family’s lost their son.’
During the This Morning appearance, he addressed the mounting rumours about what the Spice Girl did to cause her eldest son’s ‘embarrassment’ at his wedding.
He clarified on the ITV show: ‘There was no slut dropping, there was no PVC cat suits, no Spice Girl action, the word “inappropriate”, why I said it was as well, it was the timing, this is what happened.’
He continued: ‘Marc Anthony was performing on stage. He then called Brooklyn on stage, he went onto the stage. Everyone was expecting it to be Nicola to be the first dance, then Marc Anthony asks “the most beautiful woman” to come to the stage.
‘Then he says, “Victoria come to the stage.” Victoria is by the stage, she goes onto the stage. At that point, suddenly, Brooklyn is devastated. He thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife.’
According to the DJ, this sparked a huge reaction from the bride, who stormed out of the room in tears.
‘They do this dance and then Marc Anthony goes “Put your hand on your mother’s hips”. It was a Latin thing,’ he recalled. ‘That whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room.
‘I’ve done an awful lot of Beckham parties in the past. They are a dance-y family. They love to dance. What we deem as inappropriate, it’s not how Brooklyn feels. It’s about how Brooklyn feels.’
