Dua Lipa STUNS at Wembley, Gets Royal Blessing from The Spice Girls: ‘That’s Girl Power’

90s babies rejoice! Our time has come, our two worlds have collided, and it’s epic! Dua Lipa just had quite the busy weekend that most pop stars can only dream of. The singer performed two back-to-back sold-out shows at London’s legendary Wembley Stadium. Yes, Lipa had 90,000 fans each night hanging on her every note, with out-of-this-world outfit changes and insane hair flips! Talk about legendary.

The British-Albanian superstar strutted onto the stage as part of her “Radical Optimism Tour,” now a global phenomenon that has lit up stages from Tokyo to Toronto. But Wembley? That’s different; that’s home turf. That’s sacred pop ground, and Dua knew it.

“Wembley, thank you. It is something I’ve dreamt of my whole life,” she told the roaring crowd on Friday, June 20. “It feels like such a journey, but also like everything has happened so quickly. I want to thank you for believing in me and trusting me, dancing with me, singing with me.”

Proving how much of a modern pop queen she is, Lupa glowed in a white lace catsuit, which was just one of five dazzling looks she paraded throughout the night. Fans were treated to everything from a glittering Swarovski-studded bodysuit to a Balenciaga slip dress that was decked with a Union Jack-lined faux-fur coat, which, yes, was a cheeky homage to another legendary Wembley act. None other than Ginger Spice from the Spice Girls.

Yes, those Spice Girls.

Spice Girls: ‘That’s Girl Power!’

In a moment that may have caused the British Isles (and, let’s be honest, everyone who was a fan of the iconic group) to collectively squeal, the Spice Girls sent Dua a bouquet of flowers and a handwritten note. It was a moment of reflection for Lipa, as it can sort of be seen as a literal passing of the sparkly pop torch.

“Dear Dua,” the letter read. “We just wanted to wish you lots of luck with your sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium… that’s Girl Power! We love you! The Spice Girls xxxx.”

Lipa, a longtime fan of the trailblazing girl group, shared the note on Instagram, showcasing her emotional gratitude. She has spoken openly about her childhood Spice Girls obsession, once telling Billboard, saying, “I always wanted to be Baby Spice, but no one wanted to let me be Baby Spice because I wasn’t blonde. It was a playground hierarchy. It was like, ‘Alright, you get to be Posh.’” It was a full-circle pop moment that had fans screaming online!

While no Spice Girls made surprise cameos, rumors buzzed all weekend. And honestly? No one would have blinked if Mel B had stormed the stage in leopard print for a verse of “Wannabe.”

Dua’s Meteoric Rise

It’s been 10 years since Dua Lipa played her first London gig, a tiny set in front of just 350 people. In that decade, she’s gone from posting YouTube covers to scoring Grammy wins, Brit Awards, and global chart dominance. Her latest album, “Radical Optimism,” released in 2024, dives deeper into shimmering pop nostalgia with a bold, confident twist.

She opened her Wembley set with “Training Season” and tore through her earlier, unforgettable hits like “New Rules,” “Levitating,” “Dance The Night,” and “One Kiss.” When she performed “Falling Forever,” the stadium glowed with 90,000 phone torches swaying in unison. If it was a goosebumps moment for us, imagine how it was for her!

And because Dua’s nothing if not unpredictable, she brought out Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay for a surprise duet of “Virtual Insanity.” For the second night, the singer brought Charli XCX, lighting up the stage in Charli’s typical neon screen colors. ICONIC.

Among the crowd were Dua’s proud mom, Anesa; sister Rina, and actor fiancé, Callum Turner.

A Moment of Humility and Joy

There’s something undeniably poetic about the Spice Girls, the original Wembley girl power brigade, saluting Lipa at this very stadium. Back in 1998, they became the first all-female group to headline and sell out Wembley. Now, Dua carries that legacy, alongside some big names today, including Beyoncé, Adele, Taylor Swift, Madonna, and more! With stylish stilettos just as sharp and messages of female empowerment just as loud, she’s nailing the whole girl-pop-power.

The mutual respect isn’t lost on anyone, especially fans who grew up with “Spice Up Your Life” on repeat and now dance to “Houdini” or “Physical” with the same joy.

As Dua herself said, “Looking out and seeing all you guys means the absolute world to me.”

And honestly? It means the world to pop music, too.
