Aside from the traditional standard and Ultimate Editions, this year’s EA Sports FC game comes in an Ultimate Plus Edition that’s only available for a limited time.
In the wake of the 2026 World Cup, EA has begun talking about its next football game, EA Sports FC 27, having dropped the first gameplay trailer last week, alongside confirmation of who will be starring on the cover.
Aside from some gameplay tweaks and improvements, EA is promising a new ‘social football playground’ called The Grounds, where you can receive training from famous footballers like Kylian Mbappé and, perhaps most surprisingly, Alex Hunter, the fictional protagonist of FIFA 17’s story mode.
The game is already available for pre-order but since there are three different versions to choose from, we’re going to break down everything you need to know about EA Sports FC 27’s contents as well as when and where you can play the game.
What is EA Sports FC 27’s release date?
Officially, EA Sports FC 27 launches on September 25, which is a very hectic week as multiple major video games are coming out around the same time… not that EA has much to worry about given the series’ popularity.

Just like previous years, you can start playing EA Sports FC 27 a whole week earlier, on September 18, but only if you pre-order either the Ultimate Edition or the Ultimate Plus Edition of the game.
What platforms is EA Sports FC 27 available on?
As was leaked ahead of time, EA Sports FC 27 will still be available on last gen consoles, as well as current gen ones.
The full list of platforms includes the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Be forewarned, though, that according to EA’s website, The Grounds mode will only be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC versions of the game.
Does EA Sports FC 27 offer dual entitlement?
Yes, EA will continue to offer dual entitlement for EA Sports FC 27, but only on PlayStation and Xbox. So, if you buy the PlayStation 5 version, you still get the PlayStation 4 version and vice versa. Same for the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One versions.
What editions are available for EA Sports FC 27?
There are editions available for EA Sports FC 27: the standard edition, the Ultimate Edition, and the Ultimate Plus Edition.
The standard edition costs £69.99 on consoles and £59.99 on PC, and only includes the game, though you can receive extra content for the Career and Grounds modes if you pre-order it before the game’s launch, specifically:
- Pre-order challenges for Career mode
- Three ICONs/Heroes for Career mode
- Five-star coach for Career mode
- Five-star youth scout for Career mode
- The Grounds Signature Sweatsuit
- Tier three AMP inspired by Mbappé for The Grounds
- Two AXP Multipliers for 10 Matches Consumables for The Grounds
Surprisingly, it also throws in a 92+ OVR ICON Player Item but for last year’s game, EA Sports FC 26.
The Ultimate Edition costs £99.99 on consoles and £89.99 on PC and includes all the same bonuses as the standard edition, plus the following extras:
- Seven days early access
- Premium Pass for Season 1
- Up to 6,000 FC Points delivered across three monthly drops
- 85+ OVR International ICON Player Item for Football Ultimate Team
- Additional Player Evolution Slot for Football Ultimate Team
- Five-star senior scout for Career mode
- Additional five Manager Live Challenge Creation Slots for Career mode
- 99 DRI Stat Evolution for EA Sports FC 26
If you pre-order the Ultimate Edition before September 1, though, you’ll receive a 93+ OVR ICON Player Pick for EA Sports FC 26 as well. This will not be included in pre-orders after the cut-off date.
Normally that’d be it, but this year EA has introduced a new Ultimate Plus Edition that it says is ‘designed for Football Ultimate Team players who plan to start building their club before launch day.’
It’s unsurprisingly the most expensive edition, costing £139.99 on consoles and £129.99 on PC, as it includes the seven day early access, the 93+ OVR ICON Player Pick for EA Sports FC 26, and everything else from the Ultimate Edition plus some exclusive extras.
The Ultimate Plus Edition’s exclusive additions are:
- Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5
- Up to 10,000 FC Points delivered across five monthly drops
- 1 of 5 Hall of FUT Direct Player Pick – your options are Adebayo Akinfenwa, Giovani dos Santos, Loic Remy, Marouane Fellaini, and Eljero Ellia
- 99 PHY Stat Evolution for EA Sports FC 26
However, this is the only edition of the game with a time limit as EA will stop selling it after August 31.
Where is the best place to pre-order EA Sports FC 27?
If you’re looking to save some money on your EA Sports FC 27 pre-order, retailers such as Smyths, GAME, Very, and Sports Direct are offering the standard edition at a slight discount of £5, bringing it down to £64.99.
This extends to the Switch 2 and Switch 1 versions as well, which are £54.99 and £49.99, respectively, instead of £59.99 and £54.99. At the time of writing, this is the only way to purchase them as digital pre-orders have yet to go up on Nintendo’s storefront.
The Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Editions, meanwhile, appear to only be available digitally and thus have to be bought at full price, though we will update this article should we find any cheaper alternatives.
Is there a beta test for EA Sports FC 27?
Although EA has not formally announced it, a closed beta test for EA Sports FC 27 is expected, since EA Sports FC 26 received one last year.
The rumour is the beta will run from August 5 to August 25, since that’s when last year’s beta ran, but these dates are not confirmed by EA. Either way, since it’ll be a closed beta, it will only be available to those who have registered for EA Playtesting and receive an invite.
