Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes is recovering in hospital after suffering a stroke.

The former This Morning star, 66, fell ill on Tuesday and has been in hospital since then.

The dad-of-four started suffering health woes back in 2021 after three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.

In a statement, GB News said: ‘Eamonn was taken ill last week and it was later confirmed he had suffered a stroke. He is currently responding well to treatment.

‘Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better.

‘His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the People’s Channel when he is ready to return.’

This comes after Eamonn sparked concern when he appeared to fall asleep during an interview with Darren Jones, the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, on March 11.

A clip showed the presenter fiddling with his microphone pack before he appeared to zone out and shut his eyes.

After a few moments he then lifted his head as he continued to tinker with the sound kit before he went on his phone.

Eamonn, who uses a wheelchair, had been scheduled to return to his GB News breakfast show this Monday, but he will now be off work for the foreseeable future.

He began using a wheelchair the following year after undergoing surgery, and is now supported by carers everyday.

Eamonn had been due to return to GB News Breakfast next week, the programme he co-hosts from Monday to Wednesday with Ellie Costello.

Alex Armstrong will step in to present in his absence this week.

Eamonn was married to his former This Morning co-host Ruth Langsford, who he shares a son with, for 27 years before she was ‘blindsided’ by their shock divorce in May 2024.

After being married for a total of 14 years, Eamonn began a relationship with counsellor Katie Alexandar just weeks later.

Earlier this year, Ruth said how she was left ‘devastated and broken’ by her ‘happy marriage’ coming to an abrupt end.
