Eamonn Holmes has shared a heartbreaking health update about being unable to look after himself anymore.

The GB News presenter, 64, has been struggling with mobility issues and suffering from chronic pain over the last few years, and has been pictured in public using crutches and in a wheelchair.

He’s now further spoken about being unable to walk, weeks after saying that he was on ‘borrowed time’ and ‘not OK’.

In a new video shared on his Instagram page, alongside S Club 7 star Jo O’Meara, Eamonn urged his followers to adopt a dog on behalf of animal cruelty charity The K-9 Angels.

He spoke in the video about how one pup was looking for a loving home to live out the rest of her days, before explaining why he wouldn’t be able to adopt her himself.

Eamonn wrote: ‘If I could walk and look after myself she would be mine but instead you could be me.’

His followers flocked to the comments to share their support for him, with @louweezy71 writing: ‘Hope your ok Eamonn, things are much tougher with bad health xx.’

@dina_aks_ said: ‘I hope you will be able to walk/look after yourself soon and give one of these dogs a happy home once again Sending you positive vibes Eamonn.’

This comes after Eamonn joked earlier this year that his 14-year-old dog Maggie might well be in ‘better shape’ than him, sharing another update about his health.

It’s been a difficult year for the former This Morning presenter, who split from his wife Ruth Langsford after 14 years of marriage.

He’s since been pictured on holiday with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander, with the latest reports about their relationship claiming they’re looking to move in together and the 42-year-old ‘ wants to love and care for him – especially as he’s in such a bad way with his legs and back, and can’t walk properly without assistance’.

Eamonn slipped three discs in his back in 2021, losing ‘full mobility’, and has spoken about his chronic pain and difficulty walking.

He then underwent spinal surgery the following year, which left him off air for almost four months as he recovered, however, he suffered a major setback when he fell down the stairs, later saying he ‘smashed’ his shoulder.

Ruth and Eamonn announced they were parting ways earlier this year, with reports stating work commitments had resulted in them drifting in ‘different directions’.

Just days before their split, the Loose Women star, 64, spoke about his health struggles, worrying that he will ‘never be 100% right’.

She said: ‘I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.

‘He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right.

‘With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.’

Speaking on GB News earlier this year, Eamonn said: ‘I have been basically disabled for a year and a half or so, and it’s horrendous.

‘I have to have carers to do the smallest, simplest thing.

‘It’s humiliating, it’s humbling, and thank goodness that the carers are available.’
