Eamonn Holmes has sparked concern once again after sharing that he’s been in hospital for yet another unexpected procedure.
The 65-year-old GB News presenter posted two photos on Instagram on Wednesday showing himself recovering from treatment, and followers were quick to flood the comments with messages of worry and support.
Both images showed Eamonn with a patch on his right eye, as the TV presenter explained that he had just been in hospital.
In one image, medical staff have neatly applied the patch; in another, Eamonn’s own effort is less polished.
In typical Eamonn fashion, he captioned the post: ‘One of these eye patches was put on in hospital and the other one by me. See if u can guess which? P.S. U should see the other guy !!!!’
A source told the Daily Mail the operation was ‘not serious’, although it has kept him out longer than he hoped.
They added: ‘It’s one thing after another with setbacks… his back as well, and he’s got to have more surgery on his back, so he’s out of action.’
Eamonn’s post quickly drew many comments from concerned fans and famous friends.
GB News colleague Tonia Buxton reacted: ‘Oh no!!’ while Dawn Neesom added: ‘Hope going well x,’ and Danielle Mason commented, ‘Oh dear hope you are ok and I guess 2 …’
Even Countdown star Carol Vorderman joined in with a touch of humour, writing: ‘Loving photo 2.’
One Instagram user commented ‘Oh Eamonn. Hope it gets better soon.’, ‘You need your own personal doctor! Get well soon lovely man x..’ – @drreneehoenderkamp added.
The worry didn’t stop there with @kates_taeminnie commenting: ‘Uh Eamonn, this looks so sore. Sending you big hugs and positive energy to get well.’
@Moomaisy added: ‘Oh Eamonn, you are certainly going through it. Hope you feel better soon!’
Though Eamonn didn’t reveal the reason behind the procedure, many followers speculated that it could be cataract surgery.
@Annieg_986 commented: ‘Oh no Eamonn! Hope it was planned… cataract surgery?’
The broadcaster has been candid about his ongoing health struggles in recent years.
Back in 2022, he underwent back surgery following three slipped discs, which left him reliant on a walking frame and, at times, a wheelchair.
Earlier this year, he shared another update on Instagram, admitting his battle with immobility had been taking its toll.
‘Even when the sun shines there’s pain,’ he wrote. ‘Sometimes I feel I’ll never beat this disc immobility, but I’m determined to have a life…’
His health troubles stretch back years.
In 2016, he underwent double hip replacement surgery after living with severe pain, and just two years later, he was struck with shingles, which he later said nearly derailed his son Declan’s wedding day.
In a particularly difficult update earlier this year, Eamonn told GB News viewers that his condition had deteriorated further after an operation ‘went wrong.’
Speaking to Pamela Ballantine on ITV News, he explained: ‘I had a disc operation that went wrong and left me unable to walk other than 50 yards or something with a stroller device – but basically, I’m wheelchair-bound.’
In June, he spoke openly about the emotional impact of his immobility, admitting that exercise, something he once enjoyed, is now nearly impossible.
‘This makes me feel awful because I would have been pro-exercise, but I can’t move,’ he said live on air.
‘I’m in a wheelchair now. I can’t put on trainers, I can’t change, I can’t go to the showers, I can’t do things, I can’t stand up.’
And just weeks before his latest hospital visit, Eamonn revealed another frightening incident – a fall in his bathroom that left him unable to move.
‘I was very worried about me,’ he told GB News. ‘I fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn’t get up.’
Describing the accident, he said: ‘My feet went up in the air – the floor was hard, cold, wet and slippery.’
The presenter later admitted he ‘thought he was dead’ during the ordeal.
