Ella Bleu Travolta is opening up about the unwavering support she received from her famous parents, sharing how both her father, John Travolta, and late mother, Kelly Preston, always encouraged her to follow her passions.
The 26-year-old actress stepped out at the New York City premiere of âPropeller: One-Way Night Coachâ on Thursday, May 21, where she reflected on growing up in a household that gave her the freedom to pursue whatever path made her happiest.
Ella spoke with People on what her parents support meant to her.
Ella Praises Her Parents
âHe was always very supportive,â Ella said of her father while discussing her decision to follow in her parentsâ footsteps and pursue a career in entertainment. âHe and my mom were always supportive of whatever I wanted to do. So even if I decided to do something else in the end, they would have been supportive of that, too.â
The actress added that she believes her parents were happy to see her discover the same passion for performing that they both cherished throughout their careers.
âBut I think that they were happy because they enjoy this job so much,â she continued, âand I have an equal love for it. So I think that they were just happy that I enjoyed doing something that much.â
Ella is the daughter of John Travolta and the late Kelly Preston, who welcomed her in April 2000.
The longtime Hollywood couple also shared son Benjamin, now 15.
Their eldest son, Jett Travolta, tragically died in 2009 while the family was vacationing in the Bahamas.
Preston later died from breast cancer in 2020 at age 57.
In recent weeks, Ella and her father have been busy promoting their latest project, âPropeller: One-Way Night Coach,â which marks a particularly meaningful collaboration between the two.
The Apple TV film was written, directed and narrated by John Travolta, making it his directorial debut.
The story follows a young aviation enthusiast on an unforgettable journey through the skies, blending adventure with heartfelt storytelling.
John Travolta and Ella Have Been Promoting the Film
Ella appears in the movie as a flight attendant, allowing father and daughter to share the screen together.
Earlier this week, the pair also stopped by the Today show on May 20 to discuss the film and their experience working side by side.
Ella didnât hold back when discussing how proud she felt watching her father take on a new creative challenge behind the camera.
âIâm also so, so proud,â she said.
When asked what it was like seeing John direct the movie, Ella praised his vision and preparation throughout the process.
âIt was so inspiring and so incredible because he had the whole film â all the music, all the shots â everything in his head beforehand,â she shared, calling her father âa natural at it.â
She also revealed that she played a role in helping him bring the film to life before cameras officially started rolling.
Ella explained that she stood in for other characters while the pair filmed the opening of the movie using an iPhone, helping John visualize scenes in advance.
âHe just knew exactly what he wanted to accomplish and he achieved that incredibly,â she said.
