Emma Heming Willis is offering a heartwarming glimpse into her life with husband Bruce Willis, sharing a rare throwback video and reflecting on love, memory, and how their family continues to find joy during the holidays.
The model and entrepreneur, who has become a leading advocate since Bruceâs diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia in 2022, has spoken openly about the realities of caregiving. She has shared both the challenges and the small, meaningful moments that continue to anchor their family, emphasizing the importance of community, awareness, and finding beauty even as the disease reshapes daily life.
On December 21, she posted a heartfelt message alongside a 2008 video, revisiting a moment filled with laughter and connection that still holds deep meaning for her years later.
A Roller Coaster Memory Filled With Laughter and Love
Heming Willis shared that she recently took her children to Magic Mountain with friends and decided to revisit one of the parkâs iconic rides.
âI took the kids to Magic Mountain yesterday with friends. Our last ride was Viper, and wow, I remembered it being a lot more fun than it actually was. ð It did not age well,â she wrote.
But the experience stirred a powerful memory.
âBut the last time I rode it was with Bruce, back in 2008. And that time was FUN. Iâm pretty sure youâre not supposed to bring a camera on those rides, but Iâm so glad he did.â
Watching the old footage brought back everything she loved about him.
âHis commentary. His laugh. He always made everything fun. That was him, pure fun.
I love him. And simply, I miss him being my ride companion. ðâ
Navigating the Holidays While Living With Change
Heming Willis has been open about how the holidays can feel especially heavy as her family adjusts to life with Bruceâs diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.
In a blog post shared on Saturday, December 20, she reflected on the emotional complexity of this season and the quiet grief that often accompanies it.
âBefore anything else, I want to say this: itâs okay to grieve. Grief doesnât only belong to death,â she wrote. âIt belongs to change, and the ambiguous loss caregivers know so well. It belongs to the realization that things wonât unfold the way they once did.â
Remembering the Holidays They Once Shared
Looking back, Heming Willis recalled how deeply Bruce loved the holidays and the role he played in making them special for their family.
âHe loved this time of year- the energy, family time, the traditions. He was the pancake-maker, the get-out-in-the-snow-with-the-kids guy, the steady presence moving through the house as the day unfolded,â she wrote.
While those memories remain, the season can still bring unexpected waves of emotion.
âIt can arrive while pulling decorations out of storage, wrapping gifts or hearing a familiar song. It can catch you off guard in the middle of a room full of people, or in the quiet moment when everyone else has gone to bed.â
Finding Joy in a Season That Looks Different
Despite the challenges, Heming Willis says the holidays are still filled with meaning, love, and warmth.
Speaking previously with People at the End Well 2025 conference in Los Angeles, she explained how her family has adapted.
âItâs joyous. Itâs just different,â she said. âBruce loved Christmas, and we love celebrating it with him. It just looks different, so weâve kind of adapted to that.â
She emphasized that while traditions have shifted, the heart of the season remains intact.
Holidays that once centered on large gatherings now focus on togetherness, familiarity, and honoring the deep bonds that continue to define their family.
Willis, 70, was first diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, a condition that affects language and communication.
His family later shared that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia, which impacts behavior, personality, and daily functioning.
Throughout this journey, Heming Willis has stepped into the role of caregiver while also becoming a strong advocate for dementia awareness and caregiver support.
By sharing moments of love, memory, and vulnerability, she continues to remind others that even amid change, joy and connection can still be found.
