CBS might be building its own version of NBC’s massively popular One Chicago franchise.

According to a new report from <a href=”https://deadline.com/2026/04/fire-country-sheriff-country-universe-medical-spinoff-cbs-1236860576/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Deadline, the network is considering a medical-focused spinoff of its popular shows Fire Country and Sheriff Country. If the proposed series – which is in the very early stages of development – becomes a reality, CBS would have a trio of first responder dramas similar to NBC’s Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med.

The as-yet untitled series would follow a medical team in the Northern California town of Edgewater, where both Fire Country and Sheriff Country are set. The groundwork for the new show could be laid in a episode of Sheriff Country Season 2, which will premiere later this year.

Fire Country launched in 2022 and is now in its fourth season. Sheriff Country premiered in 2025. It’s the second-most-watched new CBS drama this year, after the Yellowstone spinoff of Marshals. Both Fire Country and Sheriff Country have been renewed for the 2026-27 broadcast season.

Sheriff Country airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, following by Fire Country at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes stream on Paramount+.
