Some fans have been left ‘fuming’ after HeritageLive cancelled their entire string of festivals this summer, with refunds causing confusion.

The concert series was due to kick off at the beginning of August at the historic Audley End estate and continue throughout summer at Englefield Estate and the Sandringham Estate.

Sadly, despite the star-studded line-up including Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, and Janet Jackson, organisers had no choice but to pull the plug.

In a statement, they confirmed the ‘heartbreaking news’ of the festival’s cancellation following ‘far lower than average’ interest and poor ticket sales.

However, those who did actually buy tickets are now struggling to get their money back, which one fan claimed was £200 worth.

Those who purchased through seller SeeTickets have found themselves in a loop where neither the provider nor the festival seem to be ‘taking responsibility.’

‘They potentially seem to have run for the hills with your money,’ claimed Kevin Doyle on TikTok, who had bought a ticket to Christina Aguilera.

He pointed out that the festival’s official statement said fans should contact their ‘ticket provider’ for a refund, not HeritageLive itself.

This has been echoed by Ticketmaster, which told Metro it is issuing automatic refunds to all customers.

An email sent out read: ‘The Event Organiser has cancelled the performance of HERITAGE LIVE: The Streets + Special Guests on 7 August 2026. You’ll receive an automatic refund on your original method of payment within 14-21 days, depending on your bank’s processing time.’

However, SeeTickets has reportedly urged fans to contact the festival directly in an email sent shortly after the cancellation was announced.

According to Kevin, customers were told that ‘the funds received from all tickets had already been paid to HeritageLive’.

At the end of the email, seen on social media, it read: ‘See Tickets has no authority to assess, approve, or process refund requests on the Promoter’s behalf and is therefore unable to provide refunds directly to ticket holders’.

The email states that HeritageLive is ‘solely responsible’, and offers up an address for ticketholders to use to ‘apply for a refund’.

Kevin claimed he attempted to contact the given email, only for the message to be returned with a ‘cannot be delivered’ notice.

Other ticketholders in the comments said they had a similar experience, but when they got through to HeritageLive they were just issued the original statement as an automatic response.

HelsBels said: ‘I’m fuming, less than 2 weeks and cancelled. I should be seeing Richard Ashcroft on 24th, cannot get in touch with either see tickets or heritage live as you mentioned, all social media and contact details shut down. Someone owes me £200 🤬🤬🤬’

TikTok user bits.and.bobs.of.my.life posted pictures of the emails and said that ‘both companies are refusing to take responsibility for refunds’.

‘Just received the same! not sure what to do but got a feeling it may be a battle to get any money back!’ wrote account No.

DeeMcG1 added: ‘me I have Janet Jackson tickets booked flights hotel and car hire to get there too its an absolute shambles 😫 both blaming each other for refunds.’

Others were calling the handling of the situation ‘dreadful’ and ‘messy’, urging shortchanged fans to go through their banks.

‘[HeritageLive] have switched off all comments on social media and seemingly, at the moment, cannot be contacted,’ Kevin added.

An edited caption on their cancellation post read: ‘Ticket refunds will be processed by your ticket agent. If you experience any difficulties obtaining a refund, as per any transaction using your card, you are able to claim a refund for services not provided from your Credit Card Provider or Bank.

‘Contact your card issuer to dispute the charge or initiate a Section 75 claim (for credit card purchases over £100 or a Chargeback (for debit cards) through your banking provider.’

In an ambition line-up, the festival had booked Christina Aguilera for a one-off UK headliner gig, alongside Lionel Richie, Janet Jackson, Eric Clapton and Ricky Martin.

Other stars like Craig David, Blue, Sugababes, Olly Alexander, Ronnie Wood, and Soul II Sould filled the rest of the festival, which is held on various royal estates.

This would have marked HeritageLive’s 10th year, having previously seen The Who, Sir Tom Jones  Robbie Williams, and last year’s headliner Mariah Carey perform.

Unfortunately, ticket sales were not high enough to keep the festival afloat, with a last minute investment ‘falling through’.

The statement read: ‘We’d been working desperately hard behind the scenes to conclude an investment and equity package to ease the burden of an extraordinarily tough year, but this last beacon of hope has fallen through at the 11th hour, making it impossible to go ahead.’

Also citing rising expenses and a crowded festival scene as the reasons for the axe, they added: ‘As one of the few remaining British independent promoters, it’s become almost impossible to compete in what has become an increasingly saturated festival market.’

It was promised that ticketholders who purchased through reputable agents (AXS, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Gigantic, Skiddle, or Ticketline) should retain their transaction receipt and will have their refunds generated automatically ‘within a reasonable period’.

A HeritageLive spokesperson said: ‘See Tickets acted solely as the authorised ticketing agent for the Heritage Live 2026 events at Englefield, Audley End and the Royal Sandringham Estate.

‘The decision to cancel these events was taken solely by the event promoter, GCE Live. Our position remains that responsibility for customer refunds rests with the promoter, since they have failed to return the ticket sale proceeds to us to enable this.

‘However, we do not want customers to be left out of pocket while these issues remain unresolved. We have therefore decided to fund customer refunds ourselves in the first instance, irrespective of the legal position. We will be reaching out to them shortly with instructions on how to claim their refunds. We remain committed to providing the best possible service to our customers, even in exceptionally difficult circumstances.’

Metro reached out to See Tickets for clarity but did not receive a reply at the time of publication.
