Fans ‘obsessed’ with Sinners’ Michael B Jordan’s and Hailee Steinfeld’s chemistry but there’s one issue

The chemistry Michael B Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld have built up together is adorable as hell for fans – but there’s one slight hitch.

Hollywood stars Michael, 38, and Hailee, 28, are both leads in the brand new horror movie Sinners, which is set for its UK release this Easter weekend.

Directed by Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler, Sinners follows the story of two troubled brothers who return to their hometown to start again, only to find a greater evil.

Set in Deep South of the 1930s, the film stars Michael as both of the twin brothers, Elijah and Elias, and Hailee as Elias’ previous girlfriend Mary.

The film has received rave reviews from critics, with the film boasting a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a high average rating of 8.8 out of 10.

After watching trailers for the film, as well as paying close attention to press appearances by Michael and Hailee, some fans are loving their chemistry together.

Sharing a video of the two at a press junket, X account @ArchivesHailee commented: ‘I’m completely obsessed with Hailee Steinfeld and Michael B. Jordan together.’

Another post from the account praised their chemistry after sharing a clip from the film in which Michael and Hailee’s characters are involved in a romantic embrace.

@KateBishopCore shared another video of the pair being interviewed in the street, saying: ‘Hailee Steinfeld and Michael B Jordan’s chemistry is insane – they gotta release that audition tape.’

@ArchivesHailee also pulled up a clip of Michael and Hailee during an interview for Elle, saying: ‘Hailee Steinfeld and Michael B Jordan are my favourite duo.’

However, fans who might be privately shipping Hailee and Michael right now might need to be aware of the big flaw in their potential plan: Hailee is already engaged.

The actress and singer, best known for her roles in The Edge of Seventeen and the Pitch Perfect film series, began dating NFL quarterback Josh Allen in May 2023.

And at the end of November 2024, they announced their engagement, with Josh having proposed to her a short time before their news was made public.

The romantic moment shared in a post on Instagram by the pair was simply captioned with the date Josh proposed to her: November 22, 2024.

Stans being stans, however, the matter of Hailee and Josh’s engagement hasn’t stopped people from speculating that Josh might be in ‘trouble’ because of Michael’s natural charm.

But Hailee and Josh have apparently been head over heels since the very start of their relationship and have only shown their intent to stay together.

Speaking about the day they got engaged, Josh told Beau Society: ‘The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said, “Can we get married already?! What are you waiting for??!”‘

‘I replied, “Just give me a little more time.” Little did you know I was about to propose to you…’

Sinners is in UK cinemas from Friday, April 18.
