EA has correctly predicted the winner of the FIFA World Cup once again, continuing its long-running winning streak.
While we wait for an official announcement regarding EA Sports FC 27’s launch date, EA is celebrating its own personal victory in the 2026 World Cup.
Ahead of the tournament, the publisher ran a simulation of every match in the group stages in EA Sports FC 26, followed by simulations of the knockout rounds based on those outcomes.
Following this very scientific experiment, the EA Sports FC account on X predicted on June 6, days prior to the start of the tournament on June 11, that Spain would win the World Cup.
On Sunday (July 19), Spain triumphed over Argentina in the final with a 1-0 win, thanks to an extra-time goal from Ferran Torres. This is the second time Spain have won the tournament, following their victory in 2010.
For EA, this is the fifth time in a row they’ve correctly predicted the FIFA World Cup winner. Their streak started with Spain’s victory in 2010, followed by Germany’s win in 2014, 2018’s win for France, and Argentina’s triumph in 2022.

In a post on X, the EA Sports FC account toasted their prediction prowess. ‘We called it. You played it. Spain made it a reality.
‘Five predictions in a row, and Spain lifted the trophy 11 million+ times across EA Sports FC 26 and EA Sports FC Mobile. Congratulations on your second star.’
This isn’t the only winning streak EA has when it comes to predicting sports. Earlier this year, the publisher correctly predicted the winner of the Super Bowl for the third time in a row via Madden, although its history before that is patchy.
The FIFA World Cup prediction is more impressive because it isn’t solely based on the final, but an entire run of the tournament across all 48 teams – so the margin for error is far higher.
Although the winning streak began while the game was still called FIFA, the franchise has since rebranded as EA Sports FC (as FIFA were asking for $1 billion just to use their name). The only real downside of this, is that EA no longer have the rights to use the World Cup name and instead have an-off brand mode called The World’s Game.
EA is expected to unveil EA Sports FC 27 very soon. According to leaks, the next instalment will launch on September 25 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
