Two people were injured after a fire broke out at a North Carolina home owned by NASCAR star Denny Hamlin, according to multiple reports, including Cleveland 19 News.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 6:19 p.m. Sunday, December 28, to the residence in Stanley, N.C. Both individuals were found outside the home and taken to a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation, according to The Athletic, as reported by The New York Times. The victims were not identified.
Home Belongs to Hamlinâs Parents
Chief David Toomey of the Lucia Riverbend Fire Department confirmed that the residence belongs to Hamlinâs parents, according to NBC affiliate WRAL-TV.
Their condition was not immediately available as of early Monday morning, NBC affiliate WCNC-TV reported.
In October, Hamlin told the Associated Press that his 75-year-old father is battling a serious illness and is dying.
The 3,724-square-foot home was built in 2015, according to real estate records, as reported by US Weekly. The property includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms and sits on 1.76 acres.
Hamlin came off a strong 2025 season. He won six races, recorded 14 top-five finishes, and placed second in the NASCAR Cup Series standings, finishing just four points behind champion Kyle Larson.
US Weekly reported that Hamlin, 45, and his fiancée, Jordan Fish, share three children: daughters Taylor, 12, and Molly, 7, and son Jameson.
Firefighters Save Racing Memorabilia
When first responders arrived, approximately 45 percent of the 3,700-square-foot home was fully involved, Toomey said. The house was ultimately declared a total loss, though firefighters were able to salvage some items.
âThey had some really expensive cars in the garage and some racing memorabilia and stuff, so all that was saved,â Toomey told The Athletic, as reported by The New York Times. âWe were able to save all that and get it out so it wasnât damaged.â
Between 10 and 15 fire departments responded due to the homeâs remote location in a wooded area, with no nearby fire hydrants. Firefighters worked for more than two hours to extinguish the blaze, according to WRAL.
Hamlin had not commented publicly on the fire as of Monday morning.
Earlier this month, the three-time Daytona 500 winner and his partner, Michael Jordan, celebrated after settling a landmark antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR.
During testimony in the case earlier this month, Hamlin became emotional while on the witness stand. In court on Monday, December 1, he said he was overwhelmed because his father âis not in great health.â
The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
