Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Kelcey Keeps Boot in the Game

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Kelcey Wetterberg

Fans of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” are meeting a whole new cast of characters in the newly dropped season two on Netflix.

The squad has one of its largest rookie classes ever. And that means a lot of veterans that viewers got to know in season one have hung up their white boots.

That includes season one standout Kelcey Wetterberg, who was heavily featured as the squad’s group one leader.

Kelcey spent five seasons as a DCC, all the while balancing a career as a pediatric nurse. Season one saw her not only balancing those two roles, but getting engaged to fellow registered nurse and actor Nate Crnkovich.

At the end of season one, Kelsey opted to retire, hanging her uniform on the rack for cheerleaders who would not be trying out next season. But that doesn’t mean she’s done with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders- not by a long stretch.

Kelcey Wetterberg is Still Involved in DCC

Viewers who have started watching season two of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” on Netflix wouldn’t have had to get too deep into the new season to see Kelcey.

Kelcey is now considered a DCC “All-Star.” According to People, that’s a group of about seven retired cheerleaders who represent DCC at appearances and events when the current squad is unavailable due to Cowboys game schedules or rehearsals.

In a video on Kelcey’s TikTok account last December, she explained, “The Cowboys organization has some reserve cheerleaders. It’s such a fun group because we’re all girls that retired last year so we were on the team together. We get to do stuff when the team is busy, so tonight the team has practice, and we’re doing this appearance.”

But viewers of season two have seen her in another role. Wetterberg also mentors aspiring DCCs in prep classes that are shown on the show.

In a TikTok from April 2025, Kelcey posted a video of a session she taught with the caption, “DCC prep class I taught a few weeks ago. Had the BEST TIME! So inspiring to be in this room with so many driven women going after their dreams 💙.”

Kelcey Ties the Knot and Goes Full-Time as a Nurse

According to People, Kelcey and now-husband Nate tied the knot last December. They had a two-day celebration in their hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. They reportedly had a private Catholic ceremony on December 30. Then the couple threw a glamorous New Year’s Eve reception packed with 300 guests.

The New Year’s Eve blowout featured a “Thunderstruck” performance by Kelcey and some of her fellow DCC alumni. On her Instagram account, Kelcey posted a video of highlights of her wedding, with the audio playing both her and Nate’s vows.

According to her Instagram account, the couple just bought a house in Dallas in mid-June.

Kelcey continues to work full-time as a pediatric nurse, but that’s nothing new. She balanced her career as a nurse with cheering. In an episode of season one of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” Kelcey told the camera, “DCC is more of a part-time job. As a nurse I work 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Then go to practice and get home at midnight, sometimes 1:00 a.m.”
