Detective Amanda Rollins is back!
Three years after departing “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” Kelli Giddish will reprise her role as a full-time cast member for the show’s 27th season, E! News reports.
Giddish announced her exit in 2022, having been on the show since Season 13, where she teamed up with Detective Nick Amaro, played by Danny Pino, as his partner. After her exit, she continued to make guest appearances, as her character married ADA Dominick âSonnyâ Carisi, played by Peter Scanavino.
While her character initially left to take a teaching job at Fordham University, it was later revealed that she had resigned from that position to become a sergeant in the Intelligence unit.
This decision to bring Giddish back comes after Deadline reported that Octavio Pisano and Juliana Martinez, who played detectives Joe Velasco and Kate Saliva, respectively, were leaving NBC’s hit show.

On May 15, Giddish posted a photo of an article about her return to the show, and fans flocked to the comments sections to express their excitement.

“Finally!! I stopped watching when they let you go. Now Iâm back!,” another wrote.
“This made my day! ð Can’t wait to see SVU coming back to its glory from a few years ago!,” a fan expressed.
“Finally !!! The show hasnât been the same without her,” another said.
Mariska Hargitay Celebrates Major Milestone
On May 8, it was announced that “Law & Order: Special Victims Unitâ has been renewed for its 27th season, while “Law and Order” was renewed for its 25th season.
Mariska Hargitay, who has been a part of the hit show since its debut in 1999, celebrated the news on Instagram.
“Hereâs to season 27!! WHAAA??? #CHEERSð¥ LFG!,” she wrote.
And fans were beyond excited.
“Over the moon that #SVU has been renewed for an incredible 27th season!! I’m so appreciative of this show and excited to see SVU continue to make history!!,” one wrote.
“Woo hoo!!!! Congratulations to you!! Canât wait for SEASON 27! ðð¼ð¥ð,” another wrote.
Hargitay stars as Captain Olivia Benson. She began the show alongside Christopher Meloni, who played her partner, Elliot Stabler. Meloni left the show at the end of Season 12, which aired in 2011, but returned in Season 22 for an episode, which aired in 2021. This set up his new series, “Law and Order: Organized Crime.”
