<p id=”par-2_82″><em>The Golden Bachelor</em> star Gerry Turner blazed the path for the senior version of ABC’s hit reality series, <em>The Bachelor</em>. Gerry fell for Theresa Nist and had a televised wedding that included stars from across Bachelor Nation. Unfortunately, Gerry’s rise to stardom wasn’t always easy. He was hit with allegations that he lied about his dating history after the death of his first wife, Toni Turner. Additionally, he and Theresa divorced shortly after tying the knot, adding fuel to the fire. </p>
<p id=”par-3_62″>Sadly, Gerry’s father, Everett, died on Jan. 28, 2025, at his home in <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/the-golden-bachelor-theresa-nist-never-planned-moving-indiana-gerry-turner.html/”>Fort Wayne, Indiana</a>. He was 93. Everett is survived by his wife, Norma “Peggy” Berkes-Turner, and his three sons, one daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Everett’s family held a Celebration of Life on Feb. 15, 2025. In March 2025, Gerry filed to be the personal representative of Everett’s estate.</p>
<p id=”par-4_57″>Everett was a loyal <em>Golden Bachelor </em>viewer. However, he expressed doubts regarding <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/the-golden-bachelor-gerry-turners-father-says-didnt-care-theresa.html/”>Gerry’s marriage to Theresa</a>. “I had Leslie picked out,” he told <a href=”https://www.the-sun.com/tv/9764540/golden-bachelor-gerry-turner-dad-wishes-son-picked-leslie-fhima/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The U.S. Sun</a>. “For some reason, I just didn’t care for Theresa. I was 60% for Leslie and 40% for Theresa. I couldn’t say why. Right off the bat, Theresa rubbed me the wrong way.”</p>
<p id=”par-5_34″>Gerry didn’t post to social media about his father’s death. On June 16, 2024, he posted a series of <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/C8S_DTRM4Yr/?img_index=2″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a> photos to celebrate Father’s Day. Gerry posed with Everett in one of the photos.</p>
<p id=”par-6_41″>“Another great Father’s Day,” he captioned the post. “The best daughters a dad could ask for, the best dad a son could ever have, and the best golf buddies on earth. Thanks to all who made this a wonderful Father’s Day.”</p>
