Glen Powell Revealed Which Accomplishment Is the ‘Peak’ of His Life

Glen Powell

Glen Powell made his “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut on November 15, during which he used his monologue to call the experience the “peak of [his] life.”

The “Running Man” actor was clearly genuinely excited to be hosting the NBC sketch comedy show. Although he said the first peak of his life came during filming “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over,” hosting “SNL” supersedes that.

Powell’s reverence for “SNL” wasn’t the only topic he covered during his monologue. According to the Hollywood heartthrob, he was supposed to host “SNL” five years ago to promote “Top Gun: Maverick.” Unfortunately, the film’s release was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so “SNL” rescinded their offer to Powell.

Before Powell found out he would not, in fact, be hosting “SNL” to promote the latest “Top Gun” movie, he shared the news with both his family and the UPS driver who happened to be delivering a package right after he got the good news. Powell and his family took a selfie with the driver to commemorate the moment. After showing the photo, Powell joked that for five years, that UPS driver thought he was a liar. To redeem himself, Powell’s sisters tracked the driver down and invited him to the show’s live taping. After showing the driver sitting in the audience, Powell invited him onstage to take another selfie.

Throughout the night, Powell fulfilled his hosting duty by starring in a wide array of sketches. His first sketch of the night made fun of AI slop by depicting Powell as the subject of various old photographs come to life through the power of AI. Comically, these photos began to animate in crazy (and sometimes inappropriate) ways.

From there, Powell played an engaged man hosting a bachelor party with Sebastian Maniscalco (played by Marcello Hernandez) in attendance, a country singer’s ex-girlfriend’s father, and a vigilante divorcé, to name a few.

Glen Powell’s Latest Film

Powell hosted “SNL” to promote his newest film “The Running Man,” which is currently out in theaters. The comedic action thriller takes place in a dystopian future with extreme wealth inequality. In order to earn money to afford his daughter’s flu medication, Powell’s character agrees to compete on a horrifying reality show.

Per the rules of the show, Powell’s character and two others must go on the run for 30 days, during which time various hunters will be trying to assassinate them. If anyone can survive the full 30 days, they’ll earn $1 billion. Desperate to get back to his family, the lead man will do anything to survive.
