God Of War is most popular 2026 game reveal but the biggest trailer is a surprise

Gears Of War: E-Day, Resident Evil Veronica and God Of War Laufey

An analytics firm has revealed the most popular games from all the recent showcases, including Resident Evil Veronica and Spyro.

The Summer Game Fest season is officially over for another year, with presentations from Sony, Microsoft, Geoff Keighley, Nintendo, and other smaller indie organisers, showing off countless new titles.

Everyone will have their own highlights, but analytics firm Level Up (via The Game Business) has quantified various hype barometers – from trailer views to press coverage and the broad term of ‘community engagement’ – into one metric to create a list of the top 10 most popular games from all the presentations.

So what topped the list? God Of War Laufey racked up the highest score, followed by The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake and Resident Evil Veronica.

God Of War Laufey has some distinct advantages in this race. Firstly, Sony’s State Of Play presentation aired first, so the game had more time to accumulate views – 7.3 million at the time of writing – and it had the most amount of footage (23 minutes compared to a few seconds for Zelda) However, based on the graphic, it has still dwarfed the others in terms of popularity.

Resident Evil Veronica also would’ve benefited from being the first game shown during Summer Game Fest (and thus still at a reasonable time of day for Europe) but its reception already seems to justify Capcom’s decision to remake such a relatively obscure entry in the franchise.

Marvel’s Wolverine is fourth, followed by Gears Of War: E-Day. While the latter was the main focus of the Xbox Games Showcase, the conversation around its Xbox console exclusivity will also have bumped its numbers up. In terms of trailer views, Gears Of War: E-Day is on the lower end of the spectrum, with the gameplay demo racking up just 433,000 views.

Kingdom Hearts 4 was victorious in the battle of the role-players at sixth, followed by Persona 6 (which showed virtually nothing) and Final Fantasy 7: Revelation.

Spyro: A Realm Beyond proves the purple dragon still has some pull at ninth. Incredibly, the trailer is the most popular of all on YouTube, with over 16 million views at the time of writing.

In tenth place, perhaps surprisingly, is Until Dawn 2. The trailer has an impressive 1.5 million views on YouTube, which isn’t far behind Resident Evil Veronica’s 1.8 million.

Overall, based on this graph, it was a good showing for Sony, which has three titles inside the top ten. In comparison, Microsoft have two (if you count Spyro from Activision), while Nintendo has one with the Zelda remake.

It’s interesting to note what didn’t make the cut. Both Fable and Halo: Campaign Evolved are nowhere to be seen, along with Alien: Isolation 2, gen ATLAS, Xenoblade Genesis, and Senua.

While this list of interest might not translate into actual sales for these games, it’s certainly an interesting measurement of what titles have made the biggest splash online – even if not for entirely positive reasons.
