Anthony Guidera, best known for his role in The Godfather Part III, has died aged 65, weeks after collapsing.

The actor was rushed to the hospital on May 11, when his heart suddenly stopped beating while at home in Southern California.

His wife, Valerie, confirmed to TMZ that after three weeks, he was taken off life support and brought home for a natural death.

Guidera’s cause of death, on Saturday, June 6, is still unknown, as doctors have no idea what caused the initial collapse.

His breakthrough role came in 1990 as a bodyguard, also named Anthony, in the third and final Godfather film.

He went on to star as Robbie in 1995’s Species, a sci-fi film that earned him the MTV movie award for best kiss with co-star Natasha Henstridge.

Throughout the late 90s he became a familiar face on screen, appearing in The Rock, The Postma, and Bruce Willis blockbuster Armageddon.

He also worked consistently in TV, landing roles in shows such as Renegade, Baywatch, Angel, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
