Former Gogglebox star Pat Webb has died aged 75 after a ‘long illness’.

The news was announced on the show’s official social media pages today, with the statement reading: ‘We are deeply saddened to announce that Gogglebox star Mummy Pat Webb passed away this weekend at the age of 75 after a long illness.

‘Pat was a much loved cast member on the show from series 10 -12 alongside her son Stephen.

‘Mummy Pat will be remembered and missed by her children Stephen, Denise, Sharon, Beverley and the extended family.’

It concluded: ‘Our thoughts are with the family who have requested privacy at this sad time.’

Soon after Stephen posted a tribute to his beloved mum alongside a series of snaps on Instagram.

‘Mummy Pat , you were one in a million, took everyone at face value, would share your last fiver with a stranger, the salt of the earth and the absolute centre of our world! Rest in peace mum,’ he wrote.

His post was quickly met with many messages of support.

Former Gogglebox star Lisa Baggs commented: ‘Oh Stephen I’m so sorry ! Your mum was so funny when you were both on Gogglebox 💕sending you ,Daniel and your family so much love x x x’

Fan Sinead M shared: ‘So sorry for your loss. Enjoyed your mam on gogglebox. Thank you for sharing her with us all.’

Lydia Powell added: ‘So sorry, she was so funny on gogglebox, rest in peace Pat.’

Last year original cast member Stephen, 52, announced he was leaving the show after a decade.

In a statement, it was confirmed that he and husband Daniel Lustig-Webb had decided to step away from the Channel 4 programme.

‘After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show,’ show creators Studio Lambert and Channel 4 said.

‘As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years.

‘We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects.’

Stephen, a hairdresser by trade, first joined Gogglebox as one of the original stars in 2013 for season one with Christopher Steed.

After Christopher left the series in 2017, Stephen’s his mum took over from series 10 to 12.

Daniel joined Stephen in series 13, appearing on Gogglebox from 2019 until their exit last year.

Gogglebox is streaming on Channel 4.
