Ahead of pre-orders opening on Thursday, Rockstar Games has announced an Ultimate Edition for GTA 6, but the physical edition is just a download code.
Rockstar’s latest attempt to break the internet will take place on Thursday, June 25, when pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 finally go live. There’s confusion over exactly what the game will cost in the UK but what we do know is that there’s going to be an Ultimate Edition.
The US prices have been announced as $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. There are no UK prices yet but that’s the same price as Mario Kart World in the US, which worked out as £74.99 in the UK. The Ultimate Edition price is harder to estimate but it’ll probably be £100 or close to it.
That’s all better than most people expected but the surprising news is that the game doesn’t seem to have a physical version. You can buy a boxed copy but all it’ll have inside is a download code. Whether there’ll be any kind of super deluxe edition, with statues and the usual tat, is currently unclear, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be part of this week’s pre-orders.
When do GTA 6 pre-orders start?
According to Rockstar pre-orders will start at ‘midnight local time on June 25.’

That start time is frustratingly ambiguous, because it’s not entirely clear if they mean late tonight or late Thursday, but we assume it’s going to be tonight.
Unfortunately, starting pre-orders at midnight almost certainly means that a new trailer will not debut alongside pre-orders starting. Unless Rockstar still has a surprise left in them for before then.
What’s in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?
The extra contents inside the Ultimate Edition are all minor in-game DLC extras and include the ’95 Grotti Cheetah (aka a legally distinct Ferrari), a Hawk & Little Morgan revolver, personalised sidearms for Lucia and Jason, as well as exclusive outfits and tattoos for the pair.
There’s also extra vehicles at Jason’s safehouse, including a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest kayak. You also get exclusive mods for Jason’s Vapid Ganado low-riding pickup.
A Squalo speedboat is also yours, complete with an ‘explosives-laden weapon crate’, and a ’67 Vapid Dominator buggy that you can store at Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.
You’ll also be able to customise other vehicles, in terms of interiors, rims and other elements. This is apparently something you can only do with the Ultimate Edition but it’s not yet explained how, presumably via some sort of specialist car garage.
In a similar vein, the Ultimate Edition also allows you access to a ‘signature salon’, allowing you to change Jason’s facial hair, and makeup and nails for Lucia. Plus, there’s an Ultimate Edition exclusive clothes shop called Stock 305.
GTA 6 pre-order bonuses
Although there are a lot of DLC extras included in the Ultimate Edition you can also get the Vintage Vice City Pack simply by pre-ordering. That includes a 1950s sedan, a garage at Ocean Beach, and some retro outfits, hairstyles, and weapon patterns for Jason and Lucia. Plus you get a month’s subscription to GTA+, as if you needed any more excuse to pre-order.
