GTA 6 YouTuber storms Rockstar offices and is politely told to go away

In an apparent bid to get GTA 6 to release in Turkey, a YouTuber filmed himself entering the offices of Rockstar North in Edinburgh.

Nothing demonstrates better how GTA 6 is the most anticipated video game of all time than by how some more, shall we say, fervent fans act about it. Over the years, we’ve seen people stage jump the opening ceremony of Gamescom and interrupt a German game show to demand GTA 6’s whereabouts.

Those instances were before its formal reveal in 2023, but even that was leaked early, and fans have been obsessively pouring over every scrap of info they can find, no matter how insignificant, and concocting wild conspiracy theories.

The most recent example is when a YouTuber tried to walk into the offices of developer Rockstar North in Edinburgh, although exactly what occurred already seems to be the subject of considerable exaggeration.

German YouTuber ÜberGaming apparently paid a visit to Rockstar’s offices to call for a localised Turkish release of the game (rather than just releasing the English language version); something that’s been corroborated by Turkish YouTuber Ötesi International.

ÜberGaming uploaded a video of himself and a couple of others entering the office, although the footage only lasts a few seconds, cutting out right as they walk through the door. He admits they didn’t get very far into the building and were asked to leave almost immediately.

He also alleges that two police officers were called in response, although it doesn’t sound like he was arrested or even charged. According to Ötesi International, ‘There was no arrest; the police simply carried out a brief identity check and explained why they were being so cautious and sensitive about the location.’

He adds that ‘the building was protected by a special security program’ and claims have spread of the company having a regular police escort, with police cars patrolling with their sirens on every 20 to 30 minutes.

We don’t doubt that Rockstar has heavy security in place, but there have been no reports from Scottish locals of regular police patrols. In fact, it doesn’t even seem as if Rockstar called the police at all.

According to LADbible, a spokesperson for Police Scotland told them that they ‘cannot see any calls to the address provided for Rockstar North in Edinburgh today or last night,’ which suggests no police were ever summoned.

It’s entirely possible a police car was present, but it could’ve easily had nothing to do with Rockstar, since their HQ is located just across the road from the Scottish Parliament building.

Whatever the case, ÜberGaming’s stunt has barely netted him his 15 minutes of fame and it’s very unlikely his actions will change Rockstar’s mind about releasing GTA 6 in Turkey.

Rockstar is more eager to get GTA 6 out than anyone, since it’ll mean people can leave the developer alone and just play the game. Sadly, the cycle will probably start all over again once players get bored and start yearning for GTA 7.

Although hopefully we’ll have a few year’s grace before that starts happening…
