Hailey Bieber is revealing how she’s overcome some of the less fun aspects of fame, sharing the empowering way she looks at her haters, while also distancing herself from a rumor involving the paparazzi.
The model, who is married to and shares son Jack with husband Justin Bieber, gave fans some insight into her life in a new cover story for Interview magazine.
During the conversation, she shared how she actually looks for the positive in some of the criticism she receives from the public, revealed how she feels about photographers capturing her every move, and stood up against a rumor suggesting she actually courts the paparazzi herself.
Hailey Bieber Laughs Off Paparazzi Rumor
Speaking with Bieber, Interview’s editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg wondered how Hailey felt about the paparazzi, noting that street photographers were “screaming” at another woman during a recent photoshoot.
“Historically weâve seen that paparazzi are awful. I donât think itâs gotten any better or any worse,” said Hailey, keeping it real. “The spirit behind it is very dark and I donât think itâs something that anybody asks for in this world, so I find it really funny when Iâll see people online being like, ‘â’She calls the paparazzi on herself every day.’ Itâs so icky.”
Ottenberg then clarified, “For the record, people, sheâs not calling the paps,” with Bieber adding, “No.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, however, Hailey did reveal one upside to constantly getting photographed whenever she steps outside.
“When youâre being photographed just leaving the house, you have to think about style in a lot of different ways,” she explained. “Iâve worn something where in person it looked great and then it photographed super awkwardly, so Iâm a lot more conscious of it. I tailor everything. Iâm meticulous about it all.”
“We canât learn without flopping,” Hailey added with a laugh.
Hailey Bieber Gets Motivation from Her Haters
Ottenberg also wondered whether negativity “fuels” Bieber, pointing out that she’s seen some “fan drama” and “negative talk” about Hailey all over social media.
“I definitely enjoy proving people wrong,” Bieber defiantly responded. “I donât think you get a lot of love without getting a lot of hate. Sometimes itâs overwhelming, but it can also be motivating.”
Hailey also pointed out that she’s hardly the only famous face to be on the receiving end of criticism.
“No one gets away unscathed living in the public eye,” she explained. “People come up with something new every day. Iâm just like, ‘I’m living my life and I’m going to keep it moving.’”
Inside Hailey Bieber’s Coachella Weekend
Hailey’s new interview comes on the heels of her Coachella appearance, where she supported her headliner husband. Though Justin Bieber’s set divided fans, Hailey made it clear she’s got nothing but love for her man and his work ethic.
“Such a special weekend,” she captioned a carousel of photos from the weekend. “nobody will ever know even an ounce of what itâs taken to get here. so grateful for this beautiful life. SO proud. letâs do it all again!!!!”
The photos included one of her, Justin, and their 19-month-old son Jack on the fairgrounds, as well as videos of the mother-son duo dancing during soundcheck.
