
A Hallmark alum hit the red carpet recently for an event, and she looked fabulous in her rare public appearance. Ellen Burstyn, who starred in the 2003 Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “Brush With Fate” alongside Glenn Close, drew quite a bit of attention while attending the event at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Burstyn, 92, joined others connected to the 2000 movie “Requiem for a Dream” at the festival for a panel honoring the anniversary of the film’s release. The panel took place on June 10 at the SVA Theater in New York City, noted WWD.
Ellen Burstyn Stole the Show on the Tribeca Film Festival Red Carpet
As Us Weekly shared, Burstyn sat on a panel with Brendan Fraser and director Darren Aronofsky to discuss the film. She wore a yellow blazer with black cuffs, gold necklaces, and a black top and slacks for her outing.
The 2000 film, one of Burstyn’s biggest in her career, also starred Jennifer Connelly and Jared Leto.
Burstyn interacted with fans as she walked the red carpet, taking selfies and signing autographs along the way. She seemed to enjoy the opportunity to revisit the film and her character, Sara Goldfarb.
In a TikTok video shot at the event, Burstyn was seen sneaking up on Aronofsky and surprising him with a hug and a kiss. The two went on to pose together on the red carpet.
Burstyn carried a cane with her in one hand, using it as she walked along the red carpet.
Fans Loved Seeing Burstyn Attend the Festival
Fans who saw the TikTok video containing highlights of the red carpet appearance gushed over Burstyn.
“Love her great actress,” read one person’s comment.
“She should have won the Oscar that year,” suggested another.
“Legend,” added someone else, and another TikTok user concurred. “Amazing actress!!!”
An additional comment read, “Adore her. Up there with Gena Rowlands. I loved her in the film Resurrection with Sam Shepard. I especially like her speaking voice. She’s had such a prolific career.”
Another TikTok user wrote, “Best movie of the 90’s…Julia Roberts won [the Oscar] that year but Ellen Burstyn should’ve.”
At the time of the film’s 20th anniversary, in 2020, Burstyn talked about the experience with Entertainment Tonight. She shared a story about filming an iconic scene in the film, and noted Aronofsky gave her the “best direction I ever got” with it.
