Holly Willoughby is due to face court after reportedly being charged with ‘driving carelessly’.

The former This Morning star, 44, will appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court next week after committing the alleged offence in her Mini Cooper on August 28.

According to sentencing guidelines, she faces up to nine penalty points, a fine and in the most severe cases a driving ban.

In documents, seen by The Sun, Willoughby’s married name appears on a list of cases to be heard on Tuesday.

She could appear in person but is more likely to enter a plea without attending.

The former ITV presenter is said to be preparing for a TV comeback after keeping a low profile for months.

Holly was once a regular face on British television, whether she was fronting the hugely popular daytime show This Morning or entertaining our Sunday evenings with Dancing On Ice.

Her latest gigs have included You Bet! with Stephen Mulhern, which she quit in March, and Celebrity Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls, which was made by streaming giant Netflix.

However, with Dancing On Ice now axed and Celeb Bear Hunt also scrapped after just one season, Holly has been left without a hosting role for the first time in over 20 years.

The presenter originally dipped out of showbiz to prioritise her family after a terrifying plot to kidnap and murder her was uncovered. This led to Gavin Plumb, 36, being arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years.

A source revealed to The Sun that Holly and husband Dan Baldwin, whom she married in 2007, have been working together to arrange her return to screens.

An insider said: ‘She and Dan both know she has what it takes to go solo in a primetime evening slot, and they plan to make her the biggest female presenter in the UK again.

‘Together, they are a force to be reckoned with.’

Holly has even been tipped as a replacement Strictly Come Dancing host after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they were leaving earlier this year.

Representatives for Holly Willoughby have been contacted for comment.
