A horror TV series hailed as ‘absurd’ and ‘twisted’ is returning to Amazon Prime Video for a third season.
Genre fans will be worshipping at the altar of Peachfuzz once more when The Creep Tapes comes back to Shudder in the UK on Tuesday (September 15) with six new episodes.
Created by Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, The Creep Tapes follows Josef (Duplass) – or whatever name he goes by these days – and his terrifying cabinet of VHS tapes that chronicle his murderous spree, with the serial killer luring in a different victim each episode and recording it all.
The series is based on the Creep films, released in 2014 and 2017 respectively, which also follows Duplass’ character and sees viewers discover his cabinet of horrors for the first time.
The first season was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews, with a second greenlit soon after.
After the second aired, and gained a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, a third season was announced, much to fans’ glee.
Like its predecessors, the latest season will feature an impressive roster of guest stars including Kate Siegel, Terrifier’s Elliott Fullam, and Duplass’ own daughter, Ola Duplass.
The Creep Tapes has an overall Rotten Tomatoes rating of 85%, with several critics praising its unique horror-comedy blend and Duplass’ magnetic central performance.
In their review, Next Best Picture said: ‘Brice’s direction, as well as his and Duplass’ overall creativity in building the world of this franchise, is so strong — and it is intrinsic to shaping this stark vision for bringing something fresh to the world of found footage.’
Filmhounds Magazine wrote: ‘The Creep Tapes takes everything that worked with the first two Creep films and gives viewers exactly what they want – more absurdity, more blood, more Peachfuzz, and more Duplass.’
A Nightmare on Fierce Street added: ‘Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass continue to mess with our minds as they discover new ways to make the familiar awkward, tense, and funny. They also manage to expand Peachfuzz’s world into something even more dark and twisted than we could’ve ever imagined.’
Meanwhile, Dread Central thought: ‘Above all, [Duplass’ Peachfuzz] is relentless. That might be the most impressive thing in this wholly impressive performance: he simply does not let up. As long as he’s alive and breathing, you’re not safe. That’s what horror legends are made of.’

Speaking to Fangoria in 2024, The Morning Show star Duplass explained what inspired him and his co-creator Brice to take the Creep franchise from the big screen and onto our TV sets.
‘Part of it is the process, this return to making movies and TV in a way that I used to do when I was 12 years old with my brother, and Patrick used to do when he was a little boy with his friends,’ he began.
‘Just running around the woods like idiots with a camera, filming something and then huddling around a little three inch monitor, trying to make it better.
‘I deeply connect to that part of myself and the more I make shows like The Morning Show, which I love, but these are huge expensive shows that it’s such a contrast to do [Creep].’
He added: ‘As an actor, I love playing something that is completely limitless in terms of its potential and what I can do. I never thought I’d be making stuff in the horror genre, it wasn’t on my dance card.
‘We sort of stumbled into this so in terms of growing as an artist and not repeating myself, it feels really fresh and new to me.’
The Creep Tapes season three will premiere on Tuesday, September 15, on Shudder, available via Prime Video. Seasons one and two are available to stream now.
