How I Met Your Mother star Nick Pasqual was found guilty of attempted murder on Friday after attacking his girlfriend two years ago.

The actor, 36,who is best known for appearing in the US sitcom episode, Field Trip, will be sentenced at a later date but faces up to life in prison.

As well as attempted murder, he was also found guilty of first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or child’s parent.

In May 2024, Pasqual broke into the home of his estranged girlfriend, Allie Shehorn, and stabbed her 20 times in a brutal attack before fleeing the scene and attempting to head to Mexico.

At the time, he already had a restraining order taken out against him following an alleged assault in January involving hitting her with a belt and an alleged sexual assault in April of that year.

Ultimately, he was caught in Texas and brought back to California to face justice.

In court, the targeted makeup artist (who has worked on major movies such as Babylon) recounted the terrifying incident.

She said: ‘I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there was another lock on that door.’

After Pasqual left the scene, she was found by her roommate Christine White, who had previously recounted that she ‘acted fast when she found Allie bleeding out’.

‘I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened. That wasn’t a pretty sight.

‘This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody. You don’t think this is ever going to happen to you,’ sheshared with KTLA at the time.

According to a GoFundMe set up for Allie, she was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and spent over a week in the hospital after she almost died due to her injuries. To this day, she bears the marks of the attack, including scarring on her neck.

In 2024, Shehorn told the Daily Mail: ‘I just hope that there’s justice served. People should know that this shouldn’t happen, and he can’t get away with it,’ vowing to attend every court hearing.

In the interview, she added that she was ‘dealing with permanent damage’ after the attack and ‘can’t go back completely to how I was’. At the time, she shared her hopes of returning to her profession despite injuries to her hands and vision.

‘That’s the goal. I still don’t have feeling back in my hands and partial vision loss that I can’t get back.’

Following the attack, District Attorney George Gascón also shared a statement condemning Pasqual’s behaviour.

He said: ‘My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident.

‘Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her.

‘This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.’

As well as How I Met Your Mother, Pasqual has appeared in dozens of other onscreen projects, including American Gangster: Trap Queens, High Mystery and Archive 81.
