<p id=”par-1_31″>David Justice was <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/celebrity-relationships/?swcfpc=1″>married</a> to Halle Berry decades ago, but the former <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/sports/?swcfpc=1″>baseball</a> star is speaking out publicly now about why they divorced and dragging his ex-wife in the process. </p>
<p id=”par-2_31″>During an appearance on the <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6FepShp9h8&t=1667s” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”><em>All the Smoke </em>podcast</a>, Justice said that Berry didn’t do the things he thought a wife should do at that time and that she did not “seem motherly.” </p>
<p id=”par-3_30″>The former <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/celebrity-athletes/?swcfpc=1″>athlete</a>‘s comments have rubbed many people the wrong way, and also have some wondering how many times Berry has been married and how many children she has today.</p>

<p id=”par-6_19″>In 1992, after dating for several months, Berry proposed to Justice and they tied the knot in early 1993.</p>
<p id=”par-7_29″>“I said OK, but I don’t know if my heart was really into it. But I didn’t want to make her feel bad and say no,” he shared. </p>
<p id=”par-8_69″>Justice also gave details about being married to the <em>X-Men</em> actress and how her views of being a wife did not align with his expectations, saying, “My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast. So I’m looking at my mom — and I’m a Midwest guy — so, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?</p>
<p id=”par-9_46″>“Then I’m thinking, ‘Okay, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?’ At that time, as a young guy — she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem motherly, and then we started having issues.”</p>
<p id=”par-10_38″>Justice has long been thought of as Berry’s former unnamed partner who physically abused her, which is something he has denied. Whatever their marital issues were, they became too much to overcome and the two divorced in 1997.</p>

<p id=”par-11_29″>In 2001, Berry walked down the aisle with R&B recording artist Eric Benét. But not long after they said “I do,” came reports that the Grammy-nominated singer was cheating.</p>
<p id=”par-12_46″>There were claims that Benét had a “sex addiction” and checked himself into a 35-day sex-addict rehab program in 2002. He said he did so to try and “save his marriage,” but his repeated infidelity is what led to his divorce from Berry in 2005. </p>
<p id=”par-13_22″>Benét publicly fessed up to being unfaithful, telling <a href=”https://people.com/halle-berry-ex-husband-eric-benet-sex-addict-claims-8726005″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a> magazine: “We all know I cheated. It was out there. It’s a betrayal.”</p>
