Everything We Know About ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 8

“The best high concept sci-fi rigamarole in the universe is back,” announced the official trailer for “Rick and Morty” Season 8. The trailer, released in April, features Rick and Morty as they maneuver through city riots, dodge bullets in shootouts, and soar through space on a series of inter-dimensional adventures with the rest of the Smith family in tow.

Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden will be returning to voice Rick and Morty respectively, with Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer and Sarah Chalke also reprising their roles as Jerry, Summer, and Beth.

Speaking of Beth, the Season 8 trailer also offered fans a glimpse at the return of Space Beth. The character, introduced in the finale of Season 4, has become a major character in the show after it was revealed that she might be the original Bethany Smith from Dimension C-131.

Season 8 may finally reveal whether or not Space Beth is Rick’s real daughter, or simply a clone of her that he created in Season 3 Episode 9, “The ABC’s of Beth.”

While it’s impossible to know exactly what will happen in “Rick and Morty” Season 8, co-creator Dan Harmon has reported that it feels like a “return to form” for the series. Season 7, which wrapped up in December 2023, was more bleak than previous seasons, and even saw Rick lose his motivation for adventure after killing his arch-nemesis in the finale. The trailer for the upcoming season, however, doesn’t appear to show Rick and Morty shying away from their inter-dimensional travels, but instead sees the duo facing off against a band of Christian-theme soldiers, and even returning to the Citadel of Ricks.

We do know that Season 8 will not be the end of “Rick and Morty” with Seasons 9 and 10 having already been greenlit by Adult Swim. Seasons 11 and 12 are also reportedly in the works.

Check out the full trailer for “Rick and Morty” Season 8 below, and be sure to catch the premiere episode, “Summer of All Fears” on Adult Swim on Sunday, May 25 at 11pm ET, or, stream on Max from Monday, May 26.
